Bob Buckhorn (b. July 29, 1958) was the mayor of Tampa, Florida, from 2011 to 2019. He was first elected in 2011, and he served until May 2019. Before becoming mayor, Buckhorn served on the Tampa City Council from 1995 to 2003.[1]

Buckhorn earned a B.A. in political science from Pennsylvania State University. When he served as mayor, his professional experience included working for Dewey Square Group, a public affairs firm, and as the director of governmental affairs for the Builders Association of Greater Tampa. In 2007, he founded his own public affairs firm in Tampa called Buckhorn Partners.[1]

The city of Tampa, Florida, held elections for mayor and city council on March 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 16, 2015. All seven city council seats were up for election.[3]

In the mayoral race, incumbent Bob Buckhorn defeated write-in candidate Jose Vazquez.[4]

2011

In the 2011 general election, Buckhorn received approximately 23.5% of the total vote, while his opponent, Rose Ferlita, received approximately 26%. Buckhorn and Ferlita faced each other in a runoff election, in which Buckhorn defeated Ferlita 63% to 37%.
