In ancient times, names were not merely labels but encapsulated the essence and authority of a person. The Greek word for "written" is "gegrammenon," which implies something that is permanently inscribed. This permanence indicates the eternal and unchanging nature of Christ's authority and identity. The act of writing on the robe and thigh suggests a public declaration, visible to all, of His supreme authority. on His robe and on His thigh KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS OVERTHROW OF THE WILD BEAST AND OF THE FALSE PROPHET.--The birds of prey gather beforehand (Revelation 19:17-18). We must remember that the vision is a great figurative representation of the defeat of the anti-Christian powers and principles in the world; this will save us from misapprehending its purpose, and from a bondaged literalism. . . .
