Baker Island, an unincorporated territory of the United States, is an uninhabited island located just north of the equator in the central Pacific Ocean at 0°13′N 176°31′W, about 3,100 km (1,675 nautical miles) southwest of Honolulu. The island is about one-half of the way from Hawaii to Australia. It is administered from Washington, D.C. by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service of the U.S. Department of the Interior as part of the National Wildlife Refuge system. Baker Island, as well as ► Howland Island, ► Jarvis Island, ► Johnston Atoll, ► Kingman Reef, ► Midway Atoll, ► Wake Island, and ► Palmyra Atoll, lies in the Pacific Ocean, south of Hawaii.
