Speedy deletion of St. John's Cathedral, Tapei

edit

A tag has been placed on St. John's Cathedral, Tapei requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. RadioFan (talk) 15:02, 2 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

To Yoshi: I'm not sure what happened here. It looked to me like you made a typo in the article title, so I fixed it, and then nominated the original page (not the new one) for deletion. This seems to have somehow caused RadioFan to not nominate it for deletion as non-notable even though he said he did. I will try to find out what's going on here. In any case, the article is now spelled Taipei, not Tapei. Soap Talk/Contributions 22:06, 2 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I see. The notice above refers to a previous deletion of the page. Soap Talk/Contributions 22:08, 2 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Kobayashi_Issa-Storehouse.jpg

edit

Hi Yoshi Canopus. Regarding your addition of this photo to the Kobayashi Issa article, would you care to confirm my understanding that the photo is of a storehouse now standing on the site of the one where Issa lived? At such low resolution it's difficult to discern much detail, but this appears to be a modern building. Thanks --Yumegusa (talk) 08:15, 29 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dear Yonegusa, thank you for your comment. No, it does not look like a modern building to me. When I took this picture in 1996 or so, there was a signboard there, saying that it was the original storehouse (in Japanese: 土蔵どぞう) where Issa lived. In Japan there are frequently earthquakes, so it could have been rebuild a few time to the original form. Have a nice day! -- By Yoshi Canopus (talk) 23:48, 29 August 2009 (UTC) Oh, I forgot to mention that I "stole" this picture from my own home page at Issa's Haiku Home Page. -- By Yoshi Canopus (talk) 23:53, 29 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, If that's what the signboard said, I won't argue. It's a pity you don't have a higher res picture though. --Yumegusa (talk) 00:14, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
The picture was taken more than ten years ago by Kodak DC220 (or digitized from an analog picture, I don't recall well) for my home page, so I edited it further into a smaller size to prevent from taking so much time in downloading the home page. May ask you a question? I now donate my pictures to Wikipedia Commons in 200 KB (kilobytes) or so in size after editing the original pictures (2.5 MB in size) by Photoshop. Do you think I should donate the pictures in original size (high-resolution format), for others to use for whatever purposes? (I don't really care what other purposes they use them for, since I have donated them to the public domain.) -- By Yoshi Canopus (talk) 00:55, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Without hesitation I would answer, donate them in the highest resolution possible, and let eventual users decide whether to downsize. --Yumegusa (talk) 08:30, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I have started upload my pictures as much as possible in higher resolution. -- By Yoshi Canopus (talk) 01:24, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Dear Yumegusa, I uploaded a picture of Issa's last warehouse residence in a finer resolution some time ago, FYI. -- By Yoshi Canopus (talk) 02:26, 31 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add content (particularly if you change facts and figures), as you have to the article Zhongshan Square (Dalian), please cite a reliable source for the content you're adding or changing. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Request for Japanese translation from Dalian public transport

edit

Hi, I'm a user of chinese Wikipedia, and I've written a lot on Dalian public transport (bus, tramway, light rail, etc.). But I can't write in Japanese, and I've found the entries in Japanese Wikipedia in strong need of correction. Then could you help to update them? Many thanks! ありがどう! Unsonique (talk) 22:59, 12 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

BTW, you can contact me on Chinese Wikipedia if necessary (cuz I dunno how to link the talk page here :P) sorry)

Dear Usonique, thanks for your invitation. I have noticed someone (without login) is constantly updating the details of Dalian's transportation area (in Japanese). I am now more interested in making new Japanese pages for transportation of Russia, USA and India. So, it will take some time to get myself interested in Liaoning's or Dalian's transportation. -- By Yoshi Canopus (talk) 01:47, 13 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
It doesn't matter. Or could someone else be invited? -Unsonique (talk) 20:26, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Please don't be shy and just ask me for Japanese translation or final editing. I myself need your help in Chinese translation. Did you or your group do the Chinese translation of the "Dalian" page from the Japanese page? That was fantastic! -- By Yoshi Canopus (talk) 03:11, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Do the Chinese translation of the "Dalian" page from the Japanese page? Sorry, but I'm not quite clear about that. I haven't read that page of the Japanese yet. --Unsonique (talk) 12:43, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Verifiability

edit

Please read and understand Wikipedia's policies on verifiability. A review of your edit history shows that you have added a great amount of unreferenced material to Wikipedia, including entire articles that were created without any valid sources, such as:

In addition, many of your edits to existing articles include addition of unsourced material. Other editors have communicated with you about this, but the pattern does not seem to be changing. While it would be preferable that the source cited be in English, this is not required. If the material you are creating can be referenced to Japanese sources, that's fine, just please provide the references. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:56, 14 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Church of St. John the Baptist (Ein Karem, Jerusalem)

  • Could we please be a little more careful in doing new articles. There were broken brackets, non-standard characters (Asian parenthesis and a circle after a ref), and a confusing ref. I'm assuming Israel & the Palestinian Territories was a book, because there were videos, pdf documents and web pages with all the same name. Book titles go in italics and if an ISBN is available (it is for all new books), add an ISBN. Bgwhite (talk) 21:02, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • I just removed your: "Please write your comments in the above space. I usually do not respond here to the messages left..." message. This interfered with editors clicking on the "New section" to add a message. Also interfered with bots leaving a message. New editors often don't know about signatures or forget. There are alot of good editor who only use an IP address. So, saying you won't respond to these editors might not be a good idea.
  • I looked at your last new article, Mount Mikami. It had a blog for a ref, which is unreliable and should not be added. It is "External links" and not "External Links". There was a red link under the "See also" section, which is useless. Bgwhite (talk) 21:06, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Bgwhite, for your good advice and comments. Your advice well taken! I just saw today your message and the last several "avoid link to the disambiguation page" messages which appeared in my Wikipedia User page. By Yoshi Canopus (talk) 00:31, 28 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:IBM-5550-BW2.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:IBM-5550-BW2.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of Pu'u Huluhulu (Hawaii Route 200)

edit

The article Pu'u Huluhulu (Hawaii Route 200) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:N. Could not find reliable sources to improve article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Auric, thank you for this comment! Sorry, I did not leave the reason why I moved part of the Oceania page to the Hawaian page, did I (although I left such a message in the Oceania page) ? As you can see in the new Bible translations into Hawaiian page, it gives a better perspective of what we did for the Hawaiians, as already done in its coresponding Japanese Wikipedia page. I did modify the Bible translations by language page to reflect this change, and you can still look for Bible translations into Hawaii Pidgin in the right description. --- By Yoshi Canopus (talk) 21:18, 30 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Piaohao (Shanxi Banks)

edit

Hello, I saw that you were planning to write an English Wikipedia article about the piaohao this year, I've already launched it, maybe you can add more information to it.

Thank you for all your hard work writing articles for the English and Japanese Wikipedia's. --Donald Trung (talk) 17:57, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for contacting! It was such a long time ago when I actually visited Pingyao and its Rishengchang Bank remains, so that I could yesterday just create a Japanese summary page of Piaohao --- the Japanese page of Qianzhuang was already there. Velella, thank you for your opinion. I have responded to you in the proposed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Grand Naniloa Hotel page, which was also automatically copied to the Hawaii-related proposed deletion page. I have also added some more information on the Grand Naniloa Hotel page this morning, Hawaii Time. When I have time in the future, I will also respond to you in your USER page about your proposal. Yoshi Canopus (talk) 20:16, 13 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
The appropriate place to comment is on the AfD page, or for more general issues about this article, on the article talk page. Almost nobody sees comments on my talk page so comments left there contribute very little to consensus and also fragments the discussion. Thanks  Velella  Velella Talk   22:55, 13 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Timur's Gates

edit

The article Timur's Gates has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No WP:SIGCOV except a travel blog of uncertain reliability.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 15:33, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

I am totally against the deletion of "Timur's Gates", an important article, proposed by AirshipJungleman29. It's very easy to propose deletion of an article, but the current description can be improved by himself, if he likes, or by any other people, which is the basic concept of us Wikipedians. --- by Yoshi Canopus (talk) 20:09, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
