Proposed merger

[edit]

There are two pages about this same person. We have Jacob of Serugh and Jacob of Saruq. Which one should be merged to which one? Michaelovic (talk) 16:09, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I now think Jacob of Serugh should be the correct spelling. But does nobody have a opinion about this? Michaelovic (talk) 19:12, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

proceed with merge

[edit]

I agree it should be merged. Add any differences from the small one into the larger one and then delete the small one. I don't have the time to do this, but I will be happy to proofread it once it's been merged.

Saint

[edit]

I don't have access to the Roman Martyrology, so I cannot dispute the claim that Jacob is a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. But if he is, then it seems likely that he is also a saint in some of the Orthodox churches. Yet, as the article mentions, he had reservations about Chalcedon, which would make his acceptance as a saint doubtful in any Chalcedon church (including Roman Catholic). Does anyone have any good information about this? TomS TDotO (talk) 12:17, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
