ジョージ・ユールは1947年ねんにスコットランドのスターリングで生うまれ、2000年ねんにアメリカ市民しみんになった。現在げんざいはハワイに居住きょじゅうしている。エジンバラ大学だいがくで学まなび、1969年ねんには英語えいごと文学ぶんがくの修士しゅうし号ごうを取得しゅとくした。1978年ねんに応用おうよう言語げんご学がくで、1981年ねんに言語げんご学がくで博士はかせ号ごうを取得しゅとく。初期しょきのキャリアでは、カナダ、ジャマイカ、サウジアラビア、スコットランドで英語えいごを教おしえていた。博士はかせ号ごうを取得しゅとくした後のち、エジンバラ大学だいがく、ミネソタ大学だいがく、ルイジアナ州立しゅうりつ大学だいがく、ハワイ大学はわいだいがくで言語げんご学がくと応用おうよう言語げんご学がくを教おしえた。専門せんもん分野ぶんやは談話だんわ分析ぶんせき (Brown and Yule, 1983a; Overstreet and Yule, 2021) と語かたり用よう論ろん (Yule, 1979; 1996)である。また、タスクベースの言語げんご教育きょういく(Brown and Yule, 1983b; Brown, Anderson, Shillcock and Yule, 1984; Tarone and Yule, 1989; Yule, 1997)および英文えいぶん法ほう (Yule, 1998; 2006/2019)に関かんする研究けんきゅうと出版しゅっぱんを行おこなった。彼かれの最もっとも有名ゆうめいな作品さくひんは、言語げんごに関かんする入門にゅうもん教科書きょうかしょである（Yule、1985/2020） ^[1] ^[2] ^[3] ^[4]。
