ബ്ലൂ-ആൻഡ്-ഗോൾഡ് മകവ് എന്നുമറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ബ്ലൂ-ആൻഡ്-യെല്ലോ മകവ് (Ara ararauna) നീലയും മഞ്ഞയും നിറമുള്ള വലിയ തെക്കേ അമേരിക്കൻ തത്തയാണ്. മകവ് എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന നിയോട്രോപ്പിക്കൽ തത്തകളുടെ വലിയ സംഘത്തിലെ അംഗമായ ഈ പക്ഷി തെക്കൻ അമേരിക്കയിലെ വനഭൂമിയിലും സാവന്നയിലും വസിക്കുന്ന അവയുടെ വിസ്മയിപ്പിക്കുന്ന നിറം, സംസാരിക്കാനുള്ള കഴിവ്, വിപണിയിലെ ലഭ്യത, മനുഷ്യനുമായി അടുത്ത ബന്ധം എന്നിവ കാരണം വളരെയധികം ജനപ്രിയമാണ്.

[തിരുത്തുക]ബ്ലൂ-ആൻഡ്-യെല്ലോ മകവ് (Ara ararauna, ലിന്നേയസ് 1758) [2] അറ (Lacepede 1799) എന്ന ജനുസ്സിലെ അംഗമാണ്. മദ്ധ്യ-ദക്ഷിണ അമേരിക്കൻ മകവ്കളുടെ ആറ് ജനുസ്സുകളിൽ ഒന്ന് ആണിത്[3].
