And yes! I’ve been pretty good, been a busy 2024 so far. Hope things are going well on your end too ^^
And omg I am glad that you feel the same about the new fruits basket!! And saaaame, I miss a lot of the older art styles of anime. The newer styles are pretty too, but I definitely prefer the older look overall~ Ooh lmk if you do ever read the FB manga all the way through or decide to watch more ofthe remake! It seems like the remake did really well! One thing about the manga I didn’t care for (imo) was the pacing, I thought it got super slow compared to the first half. But of course that’s just me lol! And oooh Yuki or Kyo, the most important question hehe! I definitely gotta choose Kyo, I had a big ol crush on him back in middle school. One of my friends actually got me kyo clip-on ears for my bday last year too, she still remembered that I liked him! I do like yuki a lot too though haha. Which one do you prefer? :D
And yep Im still secretly wishing for Pixie Pop to be picked up for an anime one day 🤞 even if it’s a dream that will never come true 🤣 haha! It’s just such a great manga! And ooh those are good characters to like! I used to not like Konoha before, but now I think she is great! She and Pamo are such a cool combo and they’re so funny together haha. And yasss for thinking manga/anime boys are hot! Haha, like I mentioned I was super crazy for Kyo (and others) back in the days~
Omggg such good Sanrio choices!! Also, I haven’t heard the name usahana in so long but that character was always so cuuute!!! And yay, another chibimaru fan!!! I love dogs too! Do you have any? Right now I don’t have one, but I have 2 fun and sassy cats hehe, although my family has had dogs in the past!
And awwww thank you for sending that pic over!! Your plushies are so cute!!! I love how the cinnamoroll one reminds me of sakura flowers and the pochacco is so big with cute colors!! 😍😍😍 they both look super soft too omg!!
we're in our prime! if it makes you feel less old, the MAL: The Later Years club has active people in their 60s.
I've given them a listen and yeah, I get where you're coming from
Hope you have a wonderful day~~
It’s nice to see you have Kokomo no Omocha on your faves.
When I was reintroduced to anime, that was a show my friend got me hooked on.
Definitely binge worthy!
i really wish i could finish all my paused anime as well but it makes me super lazy just thinking about it D: i'm glad i could bring myself to finish some of the ones i started this year. i've decided to just drop most anime i believe i won't ever finish cuz then i get less embarrassed LMAO
i've started working and i've been studying as well. during my free time i just game/watch movies/read, i haven't been watching a lot of anime lately. i have my moments lol i get super anime focused then i watch a bunch of it, then i get tired and start doing something else.
thank you so much btw! it's common to learn english and spanish here, i've learned both in school. but they teach very basic things so i learned english in an english school (1 hour twice a week) and i've been using the internet since i was a kid so you kinda pick up slangs and such like that. tho i would say it's not common to be fluent in english here, a lot of people didn't get the chance to learn it past the basic level. it is expected to know at least the basics if you want to get a job though. i do believe it's common to learn basic spanish in the us, is that correct? i've learned french but i've never used it ever so i get why americans aren't urged to learn other languages beside spanish.
i hope you had a good Easter as well!! i've also watched ginban kaleidoscope, i think i saw it in your list and decided to watch it. it really is super cute and i love the whole vibe. i love cats so much, my bf has 3 cats and one dog. one of the cats he adopted right after we started dating and i consider him my little baby :') i should def watch my roommate is a cat then!!
i love inuyasha, i used to watch it on tv when i was a kid but i'd just watch random episodes so i decided to sit down and watch it from the first ep. tho maybe you can tell i'm being super slow right now njksafnjdksnf it's a comfy watch for me, i like to watch it before i go to bed. i had a huge crush on inuyasha XD i mean.. i still do ngl.
i'm OBSESSED with sanrio. i've started to get a very nice collection going on btw. they've released a 50th hello kitty anniversary sticker album and i'm collecting the stickers with my friend. idk if you have these in america but i used to collect a lot during my childhood. it's been very fun and nostalgic <3 do you like sanrio too?
My thing with Kikyou is that its easy to just dump blame on her, but if you try to understand her feelings she becomes a complex character that breaks most tropes and its interesting to look at the dynamic in her relationships. I think it also helps to know a bit about the caste systems of that time period as well. The spin-off is fine lol its not gonna blow you away, but S2 does give a bit of the catharsis you hope to see; its fine. Slick t-shirt! Yeah Sailor Moon is one of those epic foundation anime's for me- kinda like one of the very first ones I watched. Since we last talked I know I got more stuff, lol, but the most amusing is this little set of School Days nendoroids:
Oh yes- that's real lol Creamy Mami is a rather based anime not only being an original for mahou-shoujo, but also bringing idols and stuff into the mix; absolute masterpiece of retro anime. I love that show.
Takahashi's a very successful mangaka, so I think it hit reasonably early in her career; like I think Maison Ikkoku is the real bread winner among her works and Kyouko is like, the number one waifu in my opinion lol Lum is classic tho, yes- I was always kinda weak for Ran-chan, myself- love that double personality.
Akazukin is pure world building awesomeness; its by the creator of Made in Abyss which is a juggernaut in the department. When you get it to it, don't forget this here anime fwen! Precure is always the essence of a nuclear hype bomb- the most recent entry, Hirogaru Sky, was an awesome 10/10 entry and felt like watching a Precure for the very first time; one of the Cures made my Favorite Cures list, even. You know its hype when you get a Gainax pose
lol well yeah- I'm pretty sure it was you inspired a few rando watches/reads in the past, so it only makes sense to be Top freindo's. As for Makoto and School Days- I know him best from the VN and he's creepy as hell in the game, the anime actually makes him seem more like a person- the game? He's very empty, but that's a great game to try, actually difficult! I make a point to watch School Days like once every two or three years- its sorta like EVA, where I just always find something new to enjoy when I rewatch, plus its fun for the christmas meme of watching the last three episodes on christmas day.
>kabocha wine
I liked it; I watched the show 'raw' on a site that used to host raw anime, not sure if I can still link it since I think its defunct, but its a pretty funny show with some nice heart, and the dynamic of the couple is real cute. If I could recommend something similar and more modern in manga-form, it would be Fujiyama; and that was a treat to read.
>Precure
Its the greatest franchise in anime; I'm not meme'ing, or anything- nothing comes close to what Precure brings to the table. It's most hype when you go into the series willing and interested, its just pure quality.
>Bocchi
mmm, I can see what you mean- the humor is sorta hit/miss, but I stuck with it and ended up getting really into the side character, Hiroi lol. She's an alcoholic bass player, but she's so damn attractive that I got really into her- I love that sorta sloppy, but based anime girl. She's a dream, omg
>Ponko
I'm like 90% sure I found out this manga because of you lol Um, yeah- it touched on themes I hold close: Family, mortality, community, love past death. I had some theories while reading it, too- so it gave me an avenue for deeper thought; was playing with the idea that Ponko is actually an extension of his wifes' consciousness, makes some of the later chapters that much more powerful. I loved it, what a great read- funny and charming, but real stunning and moving. As for an anime? Mmmm, I don't see it happening; its a lot of intrinsic storytelling and that's rather difficult to interpret into modern anime. Maybe like 40 years ago, I'd say it was possible to do it in 40 episodes, but now? mmmm, just bein honest? Naw- it would'nt stick, sadly.
Ah so you experienced, Chi no Wadachi, huh? Well, its a difficult and painful manga to try to understand, but I think we can start with some ideas:
>motherhood brings happiness
>despair from post-pregnancy
>RL being mundane, responsibilities
>false obsession
>puberty and awkward emotions
I feel these themes are explored (among others) but these are the easiest to just jump into; you ask if I feel pity, and I think my answer is, yes. I do. Never once did I feel the emotion of hate from Saeko, but often I would feel apathy or regret- even in her early chapters. Its an act. A facade. I think there's a powerful delusion about happiness being parallel to raising a family and when she discovered that she was void of that notion, things spiralled quickly.
lol it wasn't much, really- don't worry bout the length; I'm always around in some capacity or another
IG as in Production IG, the studio that made a complete Ghost in the Shell adaptation and IGPX. Two anime that I grew up with. My semitomboyish friend from North Carolina likes their Please Save My Earth adaptation. Said that she's a sucker for reincarnated love stories. :)
Oh! I love Michelle-sama as Ayase Terada, Gina Angel (very pretty girl; most beautiful Wild Arms lady next to the smexy Emma Hetfield; Anastasia and Antenora Victoria as well; I love Anastasia's Saber-esque outfit, her beautiful blue hair, chivalrous personality and those ruby red eyes) and Mahbu.
Congrats on joining the "cat people", I hope your kitty brings you endless joy like my baby-girls do!
At age 3, magpie suddenly now has a new hobby: jumping on my back. Lolz, it's just so cute.
This season is crammed with good shows! Summer looks good too. Spice & Wolf is a must-see, I think.
The cat & woman show, where he takes care of her? Yeah it was really good.
I re-watched 'Glasslip' recently, it was just as good as I remembered! People say bad things about it, but I like a "non traditional" show that doesn't follow the tropes. Like... Wonder Egg Priority! Or even Skip To Loafer.
I dropped the (dumb) game I'd played for 7 years... and play Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms instead. It's not really "idle" but more formation building & gathering, with off-line progress too.
Cheers!
