I see an opportunity to use this endpoint for evaluating new pages. Any opinions @achou ?

@KCVelaga_WMF is it possible to run this notebook on PAWS? If not, how can I reproduce the results?

@Bugreporter do you have a link to the docs for that feature? It still sounds like a bug to me to report a different block, but it might be just cosmetic.

Marking Unbreak Now as this will clearly cause some duplicate citations and some confusion to less experienced users while it's happening.

@Superpes15 the discussion has been opened for almost 2 weeks. Can we now move on and implement it? I can do the change if you don't have the time.

@jsn.sherman in ballpark figures in a week it recovered a day, during what I suspect is peak usage. Maybe it makes sense to give a few more resources to the process, at least while recovering from an outage?

@Etonkovidova no, that was Martin experimenting from the API. From the homepage, the only available method to change mentors is to opt-out of mentoring, then opt-in again. There should have been some log entries with me opting out, then opting in again.
Dec 22 2023
As described in T353805#9420785 this feature is useful in sockpuppet investigations, when we have accounts hunting for a specific mentor. There are several non-exclusive ways to go forward which would still be acceptable in my opinion:
- aggregate opt-outs followed by an opt-in in a single change (e.g. from mentor A to mentor B instead of mentor A -> none -> mentor B)
- expose in GUI a way to directly change the mentor to another - I understand this is already available as an API call
- limit the visibility under a userright that would be assigned to trusted user groups (e.g. patrollers and admins)
Dec 21 2023
Thank you for your response @Urbanecm_WMF . Indeed, the process I did was "give up on mentorship" and then add a mentor. From GUI this is the only available option to me (see attached picture). How can I choose somebody else directly from GUI?
Dec 20 2023
@Aklapper could you recommend someone who can review this change? Thanks.
Dec 17 2023
2 weeks later, there seems to be no progress on the tasks that depend on that script working so I don't really care much about potayto potahto discussions - we need changes to various namespaces throughout the projects.

Already working on this, will put up a patch for review shortly.
Dec 4 2023
@Ladsgroup are there any remaining steps so that bugs blocked on this one can be processed?
Dec 3 2023
I see the error on my production code as well. Probably a duplicate of https://github.com/magnusmanske/petscan_rs/issues/106
Nov 25 2023
Thank you @diego for analyzing the data. If my understanding is correct, the precision is the metric of the model that will be visible to the community - how many of the reverts are correct, so this is what I'm looking at.
Nov 23 2023
Nov 16 2023
@jsn.sherman I noticed that some of the technical decisions taken in this task are limiting the number of revisions to be analyzed:
- the inability of the models to score the first revision in a page,
- using the scores saved locally in MediaWiki, which at least in the case of ores might be missing or be different from the score returned by the API
- skipping revert wars
Nov 15 2023
@diego since you graciously offered to dive deep on this comparison, maybe you will find it useful to also see a manual review on some diffs. I asked the patrollers @ rowiki to manually review a set of changes that received a score >=0,93 from the revertrisk algorithms and the results can be found below (column 2 is "would revert", column 3 is "would not revert"):
Nov 14 2023
Thank you for pointing that out @achou. Feel free to close the task, but as a note, the wording in the LA page is a bit ambiguous for me - I thought that the Model section applies to the training step.

Nov 9 2023
@Scardenasmolinar do you think this would still be a problem if the config access would be limited to interface admins? For us on rowiki this works just fine for our revert bot, but we change the config very rarely.
Nov 7 2023
Thanks for the heads-up @Kizule , let's hope it won't take too long, that issues seems to be actively worked on.
Will make a CR
Oct 15 2023
@Winston_Sung @Aklapper is it wise to update CLDR data locally? Doesn't it get overwritten when the next CLDR version arrives?
Oct 12 2023
maybe bot-flag vandalism to make it less disruptive? this is something that MediaWiki's revert action can do (but reverts have not-very-useful edit summaries so you probably don't want to use reverts directly)

Thanks @matmarex ! I tried your solution and it seems to work, but it is slow. Even for ro:Partidul Comunist Român it takes a few seconds to process, for an article such as ro:Rezistența_anticomunistă_din_România it takes minutes on my computer (development laptop). I checked also in VE and wikitext editor 2010 and the conversion is instant.
Jun 23 2023
As described in T334163#8957810, I believe it would be useful to determine *why* people did not add a title, if possible.
Folks, I recognize I have only skimmed through the discussion, but it seems to me like there is little debate on the opportunity for such a radical change.
Jun 17 2023
Hi David, thanks for the quick investigation. I wrote that gadget a while back, but I need some help fixing this particular error.
Jun 13 2023
As I remember from a previous discussion, the vertical space was caused by the FA icon, which is placed slightly different on rowiki and enwiki. Does the problem persist on an article without icons?
May 30 2023
Confirmed, thank you.
May 22 2023
Thanks Hal! I have a few follow-up questions:
May 21 2023
For the non-DataEng folks like myself, how is that data different from the API described in T207171#6944256? At first glance, it seems the limit of inclusion is lower, 150 global pageviews in the README vs 1000 on the API?
May 19 2023
May 18 2023
Thanks @Samwalton9 for bringing up this idea! Having a dedicated score would help tremendously, even if the bot runs are not unified.
May 15 2023
@dcaro I'm still seeing issues when working with the toolforge-jobs API:
May 8 2023
@Samwalton9 while researching my own revertbot [1] I made a similar proposal to the Community Whishlist which triggered a discussion very similar to this one: [2]

@TJones one more question regarding this change: will it affect the results on Romanian wikis? I know the search is diacritics-insesitive, but I wonder if cedilla redirects will be favored in relation to the redirect targets, which are using comma diacritics.
Mar 1 2023
@TJones is there something the Romanian community can help with? What would it take to accelerate the changes upstream?
Jan 22 2023
This is a site request that cannot be approved without clear consensus obtained on the Romanian wikis first, and not on meta or here. I suggest you open a discussion on the Romanian Wikipedia and invite participation from the rest of the projects if you are really serious about pushing this.
Jan 19 2023
@John_Smith_Ri I still do not see any consensus or discussion on this in the Romanian projects. Please provide a link to the discussion before reopening.

Sometimes they use the Ǧ ǧ and Ș ș letters as Ğ ğ and Ş ş.
Dec 20 2022
Let's clarify the terminology and separate the concerns here:
- I suggested that, based on the usecase, pageview data might be better retrieved from the Wikimedia.org REST API ( https://wikimedia.org/api/rest_v1/#/ ) which is different from the REST API on the other sites (see here). As usual, extensions can add their own endpoints (see for instance /pages/talk at https://en.wikipedia.org/api/rest_v1/ which is missing from MediaWiki Confusing, I know.
- Pageviews are only part of the Wikimedia API, so it is not exposed through the PageViewInfo extension. From a design point of view, they're totally separated and could potentially return different data at least occasionally (although I suppose they share a common data source)

@Edtadros both tests seem to have been made in landscape mode. Would you mind confirming that the fix also works in portrait mode? I know that since there is a fixed viewport it is very likely to work, but I think it makes sense to check before deploying. Thank you.

I'm not so sure that would help in my case. The screen resolution is (2340 ×1080 pixels), but experimenting with the basic code from Mozilla seems to indicate the limit is ~200px in portrait mode and ~750px in landscape. Do you have any idea why I would see these results?

Hi folks, is this task being actively worked on or planned for the near future? If not, maybe we should remove links to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:VisualEditor/User_guide/Citations-Full until it can be translated? We're sending people from wikis to these help pages (e.g. https://m.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:VisualEditor/User_guide/ro ) and we would much rather have them localized.

Confirmed working, thanks @matmarex
Probably not the same as T303109, that one is FF+SwiftKey. You can try reproducing this one with SwiftKey to confirm.
