Cant create artificial underground desert

I had follow the instructions in wiki, cavern layer, 1500 sand block (i put even more)
and stand behind the sand stone wall. However, the bgm change to underground desert music but not spawning any underground desert mob, only spawning cavern mob and mummy only. Want to afk farm desert key, but not sure what happen.

Dmn, while I am posting this to discussion and it drop desert key, still cant understand why not spawning desert mob but still dropping desert key.

An underground desert needs the sandstone or hardened sand wall. Keep in mind you need a special variant which spawns enemies (Treacherous Sand(stone) Wall) similar to the dungeon. The desert key can drop in regular deserts and that is what you created, just underground.
