BHUBANESWAR: The New Delhi-Bhubaneswar (22812) Rajdhani Express caught fire near Khantapada railway station in Odisha's Balasore district at around 12.50pm on Saturday. Generator car, which supplies power to coaches, was affected in the incident. However, the passengers were safe, the railway sources said.
A guard of the train spotted the fire and alerted the train driver. The train was stopped there.Railway officials informed the fire brigade to douse the fire. Black smokes were billowing out of the generator car, passengers said.

"After our guard found heavy smoke from the power car, we stopped it. The fire brigade controlled the smoke immediately. Passengers are safe. It has started its journey after detaching the affected car," said Sanjay Ghosh, chief public relations officer of South Eastern Railway.

The train departed from Khantapada at 2.59pm without the rear generator car. "All passenger coaches were intact and safe. We found heavy smoke; we will conduct investigation," said Ghosh.
