Jharkhand Election Results 2024 Live Updates: BJP holds the lead in the state with 8 seats

Chief minister and JMM’s Seraikela MLA Champai Soren believed that this year’s Lok Sabha mandate in the country is a referendum against PM Narendra Modi-led NDA, especially BJP. He, however, said in Jharkhand, INDIA bloc clinching all five tribal reserved seats is testimony to the fact that BJP has been rejected in the state owing to its “divisive politics”.
Talking to reporters, Champai said, “We welcome the mandate, both nationally and in Jharkhand. Tribals have fully rejected BJP and Modi. INDIA bloc with a vision and on the issues unlike BJP’s divisive agenda and lies peddled by their top leaders. Not just on tribal seats, the INDIA bloc also gave a good fight on other seats, too. This verdict indicates that Modiji is no longer acceptable in the country as the voters are now rejecting him and his party everywhere.” While the NDA seems to be comfortably placed to form the govt at the Centre, the INDIA bloc in Jharkhand is calling it a big dent in Modi’s political image, citing how his victory margin in his seat (Varanasi) is lesser this time — a testimony to his popularity in the country, the opposition grouping said.

Two candidates with rape cases registered against them have won the Lok Sabha elections, the results of which were declared on Tuesday. BJP candidates Saumitra Khan and Madhavaneni Raghunandan Rao have cases registered against them under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
Khan won from West Bengal's Bishnupur constituency by 5,567 votes and Rao from Telangana's Medak by 39,139 votes.

Some candidates, including those facing serious criminal charges such as attempt to murder and hate speech, also won.

The BJP's Shantanu Thakur, who won from West Bengal's Bangaon, has charges related to attempt to murder, statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between communities, among others, registered against him.

Dulu Mahato, who won on a BJP ticket from Jharkhand's Dhanbad, has 22 serious cases, including related to criminal intimidation and attempt to murder, registered against him.

BJP's Annpurna Devi wins the seat by securing 791657 votes. She defeated CPM's Vinod Kumar Singh by a margin of 377014 votes.

Dulu Mahato from BJP wins the seat by securing 7,89,172 votes. He defeated INC candidate Anupama Singh by a margin of 3,31,583 votes.

Sukhdeo Bhagat from INC wins the seat by securing 4,83,038 votes. The runner-up is BJP's Samir Oraon who secured 3,43,900 votes.

BJP candidate Manish Jaiswal emerges victorious by securing 654613 votes. He defeated INC's Jai Prakash Bhai Patel by a margin of 276686 votes.

JMM candidate Nalin Soren emerges victorious by winning 547370 votes. He defeated BJP's Sita Murmu by a margin of 22527 votes.

BJP candidate Kali Charan Singh wins the Chatra seat. He defeated INC's candidate Krishna Nand Tripathi by a margin of 220959 votes.

Vijay Kumar Hansdak of JMM clinches victory in Rajmahal. He defeated BJP's Tala Marandi by a margin of 178264 votes.

Bidyut Baran Mahato and Sanjay Seth emerge victorious in Jamshedpur and Ranchi respectively. Bidyut Baran Mahato won by a margin of 259782 votes.Sanjay Seth defeated INC candidate Yashaswini Sahay by a margin of 120512 votes.

Kali Charan Munda wins the Khunti seat by securing 511647 votes. He defeated BJP candidate Arjun Munda by a margin of 149675 votes.

AJSU's Chandra Prakash Choudhary wins the Giridih seat by securing 451139 votes. He defeated JMM's Mathura Prasad Mahato by a margin of 80880 votes.

JMM candidate Joba Majhi defeated BJP's Geeta Kora by a margin of 1,68,402 votes to win the Singhbhum seat.

Nishikant Dubey won the Godda seat against Congress' Pradeep Yadav. Dubey won the seat with a margin of 1,01,813 votes.

Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, won the Gandey bypoll by a margin of 27,149 votes against her nearest rival, BJP's Dilip Kumar Verma, according to officials. The seat became vacant following the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad.

In this year, BJP's Vishnu Dayal Ram won the Palamua seat against RJD's Mamta Bhuiyan. Vishnu Dayal Ram won the seat with a margin of 2,88,807 seats.

BJP candidate Bidyut Baran Mahato is leading with 6,13,220 votes in Jamshedpur constiteuncy. JMM candidate Samir Kumar Mohanty trails behind with 3,54,524 votes.

BJP candidate Dulu Mahato is leading in the Dhanbad constituency by a margin of 1,82,975 votes. INC candidate Anupama Singh trails behind with 3,16,214 votes.

BJP candidate Manish Jaiwal holds a lead with 4,74,690 votes in Hazaribagh constituency. INC candidate Jai Prakash Bhai Patel holds the second place and has about 2,69,095 votes according to the current data.

Nalin Soren is leading in Dumka by a margin of 11,217 votes over BJP candidate Sita Murmu.

BJP candidate Kali Charan Singh is leading by a margin of 86,789 votes over INC candidate Krishna Nand Tripathi.

Annpurna Devi is leading by a margin of 1,61,979 votes over CPI(M) candidate Vinod Kumar Singh

AJSU candidate Chandra Prakash Choudhary is leading my a margin of 65,851 votes in Giridh constituency.

Sanjay Seth of BJP leading by 107230 votes over INC candidate, Yashashwini Sahay. Devendranath Mato, an independent candidate, is trailing behind Yashashwini Sahay.

JMM's Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, leads in the Gandey Assembly bypoll by 1,148 votes against her nearest BJP rival Dileep Kumar Verma.

BJP seems to be winning at 8 seats, JMM at 3 and Congress at 1. The JMM and Congress are allies under the INDIA bloc.

According to the Election Commission, Kalpana Soren, the wife of imprisoned former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is trailing behind her closest BJP rival Dileep Kumar Verma by a margin of 1,939 votes in the Gandey Assembly bypoll after the initial round of counting. The assembly seat became vacant due to the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad.

Election officials reported that Union Minister Annapurna Devi was leading by 44,478 votes in the Koderma Lok Sabha seat against Vinod Kumar Singh of the CPI (ML) Liberation. Devi, who switched to the BJP prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and contested the Koderma seat, had previously defeated the then JVM-P chief and former chief minister Babulal Marandi, now the state BJP president, by a significant margin of 4.55 lakh votes.

Out of 14 seats, the Congress is leading on 2 seats, namely- Lohardaga and Khunti. Sukhdeo Bhagat from Lohardaga and KAli Charan Mundafrom Khunti are leading.

In Khunti, jubilation fills the air among Congress and JMM activists as official ECI trends indicate their candidate, Kali Charan Munda, leading by a margin of 55,341 votes. Sitting MP Arjun Munda is trailing.

BJP is easily leading on 10 out of 14 seats in Jharkhand. Its star candidates are proving themselves. Sita Murmu, Nishikant Dubey and Sanjay Seth are leading on Dumka, Godda and Ranchi respectively. Meanwhile it is a difficult election for incumbent Arjun Munda who is trailing from Khunti seat.

Former Chief minister and Union Minister Arjun Munda of BJP is trailing by 41,622 votes in the Khunti constituency (Jharkhand). He is trailing after Kalicharan Munda of Congress.

JMM MP Mahua Maji said, "The exit polls were misleading... We have full faith that we will form government in the centre. In UP, trends on more than half of the seats were in favour of INDIA alliance..."

Manish Jaiswal of BJP seems to have an edge over the Congress candidate Jai Prakash Bhai Patel. Manish replaced the incumbent MP Jayant Sinha. The election for the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha Constituency took place successfully on May 20th, in the fifth phase, with a voter turnout of 64.51 percent. The Election Commission of India (ECI) revealed the timetable for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on March 16.

The trend inn Jharkhand seems to be changing again. A little while ago BJP seemed to be winning with a comfortable majority, but now INDIA seems to be gaining pace by winning 6 seats.

According to the current numbers, the BJP is winning from 9 seats. Its main candidates namely, Sita Murmu, Sanjay Seth and Nishikant Dubey are leading at their respective seats. However Arjun Munda and Geeta Korra are trailing from their seats.

JMM's Joba Majhi is currently in the lead from the Singhbhum seat. This ST reserved seat was represented by Geeta Kora since who is now trailing behind according to the current trends.

Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of former CM Hemant Soren is winning from Dhumka against Sunil Soren of JMM. Sita Soren joint the BJP in March citing 'neglect' from the Soren family.

The current poll results show BJP led-NDA is sticking to the exit poll mandates which predicted an easy win for the saffron party. Some exit polls had shown a trend of decrease in no of seats for the BJP, the congress will increase its vote share.

The Incumbent MP Arjun Munda is leading against Congress's Kali Charan Munda. Khunti, a parliamentary constituency in Jharkhand, is demarcated as reserved for the tribal community. Over 60% of the electorate comprises various tribal groups such as the Munda Missionaries and the Uraon.

The BSP's Kamal Prasad is leading from the Giridh seat against incumbent MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary of AJSU. The NDA is leading from two seats already namely- Kodarma and Palamau.

Ballot box counting underway in Jharkhand. The Election Commission of India ,usually, conducts the initial counting round, focusing on tallying all postal ballots within a constituency. This process often causes a delay in the emergence of the initial trends, which may occasionally contradict the final outcome. The state went for polls on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, a sum of 22.71 lakh postal ballots were received, constituting approximately 0.37% of the total 60.76 crore valid votes. The Election Commission of India anticipates a surge in the number of postal ballots for the upcoming elections.

Counting of votes begins for 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, one assembly bypoll in Jharkhand, PTI reports.

BJP candidate from Jharkhand's Dumka Lok Sabha seat, Sita Soren, alleged irregularities in the voting process and demanded re-polling in the constituency. Sita, the sister-in-law of jailed former chief minister Hemant Soren, claimed that the voting process was being intentionally delayed. "I have visited several booths in Dumka urban and found irregularities.I have informed the deputy commissioner in this regard. Inexperienced booth level officers (BLOs) have been deployed due to which electors are facing trouble," Sita said.

Jharkhand accounts for 2.42 per cent of the country’s total geographical area and 2.77 per cent of the total population. Yet in terms of representation, it has 14 seats — 2.5 per cent share — in the 543-member Lok Sabha. Why is such a state relevant in national politics? Primarily because of the tribal population as the state accounts for five of the 47 seats reserved for scheduled tribes nationally. For BJP, Congress and even the regional parties that fought for a separate tribal state since pre-independent times, these seats matter.Since its formation, Jharkhand has seen BJP-led alliance govts none of which could complete a full term.

Political instability hindered the state’s development, despite its rich mineral.But the saffron party has improved its performance in the Lok Sabha polls. From one seat in 2004, BJP made it 12 out of 14 in 2014 and maintained the tally in 2019 by taking Ajsu party alongside. The opposition had a different story to tell. CPI and RJD were wiped off the scene in 2009 while Congress had to settle for one seat. In 2014, Congress drew a blank, but it re-emerged in 2019 with one seat. JMM, however, gave the saffron party a fight in all these elections by retaining at least one seat.The LS polls this year will also set the stage for the assembly elections to be held later this year. Jharkhand’s tribal population, primarily consisting of Ho, Munda, Santhal, and Oraon communities, comprises 26.21 per cent of the state’s 3.2 crore population as per the 2011 census. The number is expected to be higher in the upcoming census.

In his final leg of campaigning in Dumka, which falls under the Santhal Pargana division, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tore into the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance govt in Jharkhand, saying more stringent action will follow against the corrupt in the state after the Lok Sabha poll results are announced on June 4.Addressing the electorates ahead of the June 1 polls, Modi claimed that Jharkhand has been turned into a hotbed of loot and corruption in the past five years. He claimed how illegal mining, tender and liquor scams among others robbed the state of its resources.Modi said, “Congress plundered public money in scams after scams before 2014. Modi stopped this. Today, public money is being spent in the interest of the poor. But the INDIA bloc leadership, including those belonging to Congress and JMM, threatened to oust Modi to continue with their practice of indulging in scams.”
“Action against the corrupt will be intensified after June 4,” he stressed and asked the voters whether they would allow the INDIA bloc leadership to snatch the rights of the poor.
