Can I get advice and training tips in advance of the race?

Run for the Toad running store sponsors provide excellent training programs through group running sessions. The store owner, managers, and staff are familiar with the race course and trail running. Please do not hesitate to sign up with our race store sponsors today!

Run for the Toad race directors also encourage you to join us for on-site training runs (Pinehurst Park race course) prior to race day. We will be posting those training dates shortly.

What does the Military Category mean to this race?

Participant satisfaction remains fundamental to success, and as part of the drive to provide an exceptional race platform we have invested extensively for the Military category. We are very convinced that Run for the Toad will truly help convey that the Military Category in the coming year will distinguish the contribution of the men and women serving in the Armed Forces domestically and abroad. Last year the Military runners consisted of 14 individuals in both the 25 and 50k events. It is still too early to tell the number of Military participants for this year, but we can assure you that whatever the count, we intend to make the Military Category a highlight of the race.

To be eligible for the 25/50k Military Awards you must be a serving member of the Armed Forces. All reserve units and foreign exchange personnel qualify.

What can I expect if we bring our young children to the race?

Entertainment for the young children. Again, this year, the kids can look forward to an even more expanded version of the Thunder Tree Cinema - featuring episodes of the animated hit series Toad Patrol, as seen on Teletoon and TeleFutura. We encourage parental supervision at all times. Note: Episodes shown in both English and French versions.

Until then, come and play with the Toadlets at www..com

All children are welcome to participate in the parade marching during the opening ceremonies. The park also provides a playground.

Do you have a post race party?

Yes, we look forward to serving you in the grand style in our NEW 400 seating Great Forest Bistro Party Tent. The dinner is professionally prepared and catered by Bingemans. There will be two seatings following the 25 and 50k events. The awards will coincide with dinner. To view the dinner menu please "Click Here."

Will the spectators enjoy this event?

All things considered, the spectators play a big part of any successful race event. Spectators are made up from other none racing family members, support personal, press and race officials. These people are also the enthusiastic people who will cheer you on. Certainly, the race organizers will do our level best to bring you back for the next year's event. All spectators are welcome to join in for the post race dinner. Additional meal tickets can be purchased for guests with advance notice - $15.00/Adults $8.00/Children (under 12).

The race course itself provides many excellent points of observation within close walking range, so that you can cheer on your special runner several times throughout each loop. For those individuals that are physically challenged we will provide assistance getting you to those strategic observation sites on the race course. At your convenience, contact George Sarson in advance, or ask for him on race day.

Who are the volunteers at Run for the Toad?

Mostly, these are individuals that are well known to the race organizers. Our volunteers (many with running race backgrounds) consistently display high personal standards and project a favorable image of the sport and of volunteering. They know how to cooperate with the athletes, spectators and race officials. Many of last year's familiar faces will be back again this year.

Will there be pre-race breakfast this year?

Again this year the Best Western Cambridge Hotel will be serving complimentary continental breakfast for the runners and their families who are registered at the Hotel. For those runners, guests, and volunteers coming directly to the race site, we will be serving complimentary gourmet coffee and donuts provided by Krispy Kreme - fresh fruit, and electrolytes will also be available.

Who provides the Race Results?

Chip Time Results of Hamilton, Ontario will be providing fast and accurate results, providing net time and lap splits for each individual participant. Results available for the Press, TV and Internet.

How does it work?

The send and receive antennas are cast in the start line/finish line tartan mats. The mats are connected to the yellow box at the side of the trail, containing electronics and batteries. Each time an athlete wearing the ChampionChip crosses the mat, the chip gets energized and sends out its id number. This number and corresponding time are then stored in the yellow box and transferred to a timing computer for processing. The individuals responsible for the supply and coordination are Glen, Norma and Art. Click here for further information: www.chiptimeresults.com

Will there be door prizes this year?

We take particular interest in all the Post Race Activities, because it reflects the relationship within our sponsorship community. It's also our future to help grow Run for the Toad. We intend to send home, with many of the runners, door prizes reflective of the day's events.

When can I pick up my race-kit packet and registration gift?

You may pick up your race-kit at the Great Forest Bistro tent on the day of the event between the hours of 7:00 am - 9:00 am. Remember, there is no race day registration. At 9:00, we will commence with the opening ceremonies followed by the 9:30 race start.

What Medical support can we expect at Run for the Toad?

Pro Therapy International will be providing the quick response team in the event of a runner or spectator requiring medical attention. Grand River Sports Centre staff will be on-site for council and sport related injury. Also, St. John Ambulance will provide on-site service.

Will Massage Therapy be available?
