Rumor: Super Mario Galaxy leaked online
Are those nasty pirates orchestrating their revenge after Nintendo sunk their chips earlier this week? According to a posting on NeoGAF, an unsavory EB Games employee decided to take the contents of an in-store Super Mario Galaxy demo disc and share it with the online world. Though the demo is usually constrained by a 10-minute time limit, the disc reportedly contains the full game and is fully accessible through use of a modified Wii console. As the pirate site offering the code isn't specified or linked to, it's difficult to verify whether or not Mario's currently making his way down some shady pipes.
We contacted a Nintendo spokesperson for confirmation, only to be informed that we were the first to alert them of the development. Note that in the event of the rumor being true, posting of download links or impressions in the comments sections will be met with permanent bans and disapproving glares.

this game is so short i already beat it by the time you posted this
(just kidding c'mon)
pretty funny that their 10 minute demo actually includes the whole game (if true)
anyone with newsgroups or whatnot that checked teh warez locales?
gonk @ Oct 25th 2007 8:41PM
you know, just to verify if this is tru or not. not to pirate this though, i mean you'd want the case and manual anyway, since it looks nice
Flyy (NDF) @ Oct 25th 2007 9:58PM
Yeah. Def want the case.
U R MR GAY
Yubastard @ Oct 25th 2007 11:15PM

If the first age of gaming began with Mario Bros., and the second with Super Mario 64, then with Super Mario Galaxy we signal the start of the third age of gaming.
Make sure you’re a part of it.
Believe me... this is going to be the game of the year.
gonk @ Oct 25th 2007 11:45PM
and the 4th age ends with the destruction of the red ring of power
gonk @ Oct 25th 2007 11:46PM

Gonk if at first you don't succeed, you fail.
ssuk @ Oct 26th 2007 5:55AM
No, no, no! Do it right. "If at first you don't succeed, you fail. And the test will be terminated."
Dave Silva @ Oct 26th 2007 3:34PM
That's not odd at all. Several in-store demos do contain either the full game, or a mostly completed game. The only difference is the time limit, or not being able to access certain areas because some items were left out on purpose. :)
One example of this is the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1) E3 Demo. You can play through unfinished, blocked out areas if you have a save game that lets you begin inside those areas!
Ghen @ Oct 25th 2007 8:43PM
no torrents yet
Victor @ Oct 25th 2007 8:58PM
not really, it was released but than removed from a torrent website i visit for mentioning the site's name on it. it'll probably be back in a while.
and for skeptics that require a video to believe, i'm sorry, i don't really care if you don't believe :D
Psaakyrn @ Oct 25th 2007 8:44PM
You know this requires that:
1) demo disc is already being distributed
2) Someone took the time to upload a multi-gig file online
3) demo disc for some odd reason contains the full game
4) demo disc is playable without special security measures
5) demo restrictions is bypassable through hardware/software without alteration of demo code
6) demo can be played from a written DVD
I'd say this is highly improbable. (Then again, a lot of improbable stuff have been happening lately..)
Alex @ Oct 25th 2007 9:04PM
Reports are stating that the 10 minute limit is built into the kiosks, not the games, and Nintendo just ships out full versions of the games for demos.
Chipped Wiis can play burned games and there are pictures of the "demo" disc in the wild. So I think that pretty much covers your points 1-6. Why would someone make this info up?
mcatrage @ Oct 25th 2007 9:47PM
"2) Someone took the time to upload a multi-gig file online"
LOL are you saying thats a rare thing? People put hd-dvd/bluray copies online.
Psaakyrn @ Oct 25th 2007 10:31PM
Not saying that's rare, but unlikely from an EBGames employee.
DemonGSides @ Oct 25th 2007 10:34PM
What does being from EBGames matter?
hoagie @ Oct 25th 2007 10:37PM
"2) Someone took the time to upload a multi-gig file online"
iLOL. I'm putting this on a plaque and hanging it on the wall, basking in the blinking lights from my router.
Richbum @ Oct 27th 2007 7:58AM
bwahahaha. I never made an account here but i just had to so i can laugh @Psaakyrn.what a freakin' boon you are Psaakyrn. You know nothing at this topic.
1) demo disc is already being distributed
- Yes, they did say that its already being distributed.
2) Someone took the time to upload a multi-gig file online
- GB game iso, oh no, no one can upload such a big game, especially not a lowly EBgames employee right? new wii games get added to torrent sites the morning the game comes out. Using a simple DSL line (6000kbps) you can download at a steady 700kbps per second using torrents. That means you can transfer a 4gb game in under 2 hours.
3) demo disc for some odd reason contains the full game
- That is also what the post said.
4) demo disc is playable without special security measures
- What does this even mean? The security measure is that it was designed to be used at EBgames only.
5) demo restrictions is bypassable through hardware/software without alteration of demo code
- What part of "its not a demo disc, its a full game" did u not get from the blog post
6) demo can be played from a written DVD
- Wikipedia modchip and you shall see. amazing aint it.
I can confirm this is true. Saw it on the torrent sites this morning
3cubed minus 3squared plus1 @ Oct 25th 2007 8:46PM
I don't care. I can wait two weeks.
Then I'll go to Mexico!
retardbud @ Oct 25th 2007 8:47PM
not a rumor, my friend already played it
Psaakyrn @ Oct 25th 2007 8:51PM
Vids or it didn't happen.
(oh, also, vids and you could be wanted to help with investigations. Yay double edged swords.)
Jonny @ Oct 25th 2007 11:51PM
Whoa, no way! Your friend, huh?
bm @ Oct 26th 2007 4:36PM
The friend of this guy I've seen online has already played it.
NintendoFanbot @ Oct 25th 2007 8:50PM
Oh shit nintendo's gonna close ebgames
Actually I think that would be funny.
Closing EBgames, I mean.
gonk @ Oct 25th 2007 8:53PM
ebgames = gamestop. they couldn't close all of that down, they'd make a settlement
also this new pic is better, bowser flamewar :)
t_m @ Oct 26th 2007 4:31AM
if they closed gamerstop they'd be our heroes for life...

Travis @ Oct 25th 2007 8:51PM
lame.
it's like two weeks... I'll wait for a good copy.
James @ Oct 25th 2007 8:53PM
Lols because they can't afford a £29 game.
ColossalHat @ Oct 25th 2007 9:00PM
That's not that surprising to me, since damn near every big name game this year has been leaked. Though if I knew this person I'd drag them to Nintendo HQ by the collar while driving down the highway at about 90 mph.
I'd also like to do this to the person/people who somehow have GH3 already.
generic @ Oct 25th 2007 11:14PM
You have anger issues.
Grant @ Oct 25th 2007 9:05PM
sounds probable, why bother to cut the game short when you just need to put in a time limit, your still shipping it on a full size DVD, so size isn't a premium.
but common, who actually hacks a wii?
Wilhelm @ Oct 25th 2007 9:12PM
Nothing else to play.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 25th 2007 10:56PM
People hack and mod every single system in the world. I think every system this gen was hacked in under a month, if not a week.

Grrargh, wrong place. Still, it's supposed to be "how do i mine for iso"
flameofdoom666 @ Oct 25th 2007 9:41PM
This is awful! People like this ruin the market for games, then we wonder why no new innovative games come out, or do well. What a jerk.
colin @ Oct 25th 2007 9:52PM
i doubt a few thousand pirates will ruin the market for wii games, i think third party devs already did that.
Farseer (GDI) @ Oct 25th 2007 11:14PM
Yep, the video game industry is doomed. Everyone would rather spend hours downloading, modifying, and tweaking software and hardware (and still probably not have it work correctly) instead of simply buying a game.
Yep. Pirates are the majority of gamers - especially Wii gamers - and are ruining it for the minority of people who don't have hours upon hours of free time to void their warranties.
Please leave the FUD for the government and corporations (sorry, that's redundant), they're much better at it.
gonk @ Oct 25th 2007 11:37PM
speaking of innovative, that's quite a name there, is that your gamertag too?
Korova @ Oct 26th 2007 6:49AM
