Yota Devices announces UK availability for YotaPhone, priced at £419

Yota Devices has launched its YotaPhone smartphone featuring both a touchscreen and e-paper display in the UK, following its debut in 2013.

The device comes with a 4.3-inch LCD display on the front, along with a 4.3-inch e-paper display on the back and the e-paper display remains on so you can receive notifications without it draining your battery.

It comes with a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 processor which is supported by 2GB of RAM and there is a 1800mAh battery and Android 4.2.2 running the show.

According to the company, the e-paper display helps the smartphone achieve 7 to 10 times more battery life as you won't need to constantly power on the main display to see notifications, which draws more power.

"The typical user picks up and activates their smartphone more than 150 times a day," Vlad Martynov, CEO of Yota Devices, explains. "Why? Because users worry that messages or information they need or want are hidden behind their phone's black screen. This is a huge distraction and can impede meaningful interaction with our friends, families and colleagues."

Yota Devices is offering the YotaPhone for £419 on its website, but it is worth noting the company has also recently announced a more stylish successor to the smartphone that is due to come out later this year.
