Welcome to Sawston Cinema

Sawston Cinema is operated by young people from Sawston Village College for the community and based in the Marven Centre on the school site. Sawston Cinema offers a variety of screenings, from popular film titles to live productions at the National Theatre in London, broadcast via satellite.

Sawston Village College is enormously proud of its thriving Cinema Club, a club with over 50 members. Members help run Sawston Cinema and are also actively – and successfully – engaged in making their own films. In 2013 Zombie School, the film shown below, won ‘Best Short’ in the 11-15 age category at the National Youth Film Festival in London.

Sawston Village College often offers filmmaking workshops for young people during school holiday periods. Led by professional filmmakers, these workshops offer great opportunities to learn about filmmaking.
