Georg Ell

Director, UK and Ireland, Tesla Motors

With renewable energy an ever-pertinent issue, Georg Ell is charged with fuelling demand for electric cars in the UK and Ireland in his role as country director for manufacturer Tesla. Producing cars that run on rechargeable batteries, Tesla is also at the forefront of developing the ‘car of the future’, including autonomous cars. Tesla’s first European store opened in Knightsbridge in 2009, with a number of other showrooms since opening throughout the country, and plans are underway for a manufacturing plant in addition to its assembly centre in Norway. Ell’s background is in software and technology and he worked for Microsoft and tech start-ups before joining Tesla. Tesla’s Model S received glowing reviews from Autocar and Top Gear in 2015, with sales falling only a few hundred units short of the Mercedes S Class. Ell is now responsible for ensuring the UK becomes Tesla’s third biggest market, behind the USA and China.
