Associate Director, Evolving International Order
Under the guidance of Center Director and Jeane Kirkpatrick Professor of the Practice of International Affairs Meghan O’Sullivan -- who serves as a principal investigator (PI) for this research stream – the Associate Director will lead the day-to-day management of this research area, including research deliverables, programmatic activities, and budget.
This person will be responsible for collaborating closely with the Senior Advisor and Director of Special Initiatives and other members of the Center’s leadership team on an overall strategy for the program, specific research milestones, and signature convenings or publications. We expect this role will collaborate with additional faculty as the research projects within this program are further developed.
The successful candidate should be a self-starter who is passionate about the Belfer Center’s mission, with experience in research and a proven track-record of putting ideas into actionable programs. This individual needs to be a great communicator, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in foreign policy, national security, and/or diplomacy in the United States or internationally.
This research area, focused on shaping the emerging global order, aspires to conduct and amplify scholarship across several developing trends – particularly the rise of Middle Powers, changing dynamics in Europe in the wake of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the growing cooperation between Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.
