Ruth Langsford is reportedly feeling "hurt" after uncovering some unsettling news in the wake of her split from Eamonn Holmes, according to friends.

The Loose Women presenter left fans stunned when she parted ways with her husband of 14 years last month. Sources close to Ruth have made it clear that there's "no way back" for the couple's relationship.

While Eamonn has resumed his role on GB News, Ruth has decided to take an extended hiatus from her presenting responsibilities at ITV.

She's chosen to take the remainder of the month off and has been particularly "hurt" upon discovering that Eamonn has been seeking comfort from another woman, with whom he's enjoyed a series of outings.

The revelation that Eamonn has been frequently meeting a woman in her forties has deeply affected Ruth. Over the past few years, Eamonn has developed a friendship with this woman, taking her to various events including a safari park visit in February, a Manchester United match, and a Beyonce concert. It's believed that Eamonn and the woman have grown closer over the last year, reports the Mirror.

A friend commented: "Ruth was hurt when she learned about Eamonn's friendship with another woman but she is strong and she will be back soon with a smile on her face, putting her best foot forward, as she always does. She needs a bit of time to regroup after everything that's gone on, which is understandable, but she plans to return to Loose Women, with renewed vigour, in July."

Despite speculation about mending ties, a friend unequivocally stated: "No chance whatsoever." It's presumed that Eamonn and the woman connected via social media, linked by a mental health charity.

The woman reportedly volunteers for a charity Eamonn became involved in after the passing of Ruth's sister, Julia Johnson, who battled with depression.

A friend revealed that tales of Ruth walking out on their marriage due to Eamonn's health issues have left her "deeply upset". Eamonn, ex-host of This Morning and father to their 22-year-old son Jack, endured back surgery and broke his shoulder following a tumble down the stairs at their Surrey residence.

The idea of leaving Eamonn due to his health concerns is what deeply hurts and infuriates Ruth, according to a pal. "That is not true. She's always been there for him. But she has struggled with the knowledge that he's not always been honest with her."

A representative for Ruth said: "Ruth had holiday time booked from Loose Women and has extended her leave. She's looking forward to returning to the show in due course."

Despite their breakup news, Eamonn was back on the job within days. Speaking to his morning show viewers, Eamonn noted, "So here we are on this Tuesday morning and a lot of politics."

"Just before we move on I would just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation. Your support for both of us is very much appreciated."

Ruth has been updating her followers on social media during her time away from Loose Women, revealing that she's had a post-divorce makeover. Last month, a joint statement was released stating: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

Eamonn has since relocated from their family home.
