MADHAVA MENON.N.R. Dr

Dr.N.R.Madhava Menon is renowed scholar in law who have rendered remarkable contributions in the field of legal education in India. He started career as a law faculty in J.N.University, Delhi. He was the Principal of Government Law College, Pondichery and the founder Director of Dr.Ambedkar National Law School, Bangalore. He was appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of National University of Juridical Science (NUJS). He was the Director of National Judicial Academy, Bhopal. Government of India awarded him 'Padmasree'.





MADHAVAN NAIR.G.Dr.

Born on 1943 October 31. G.Madhavan Nair is an internationally acclaimed space scientist. He was the Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation. He was the leading light in shaping the programmes of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). He started his career as a Scientist in TERLS (Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station), Thiruvananthapuram. He was the colleague of Dr.Vikram Sarabhai and Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, former President of India. He was Director of VSSC and gave leadership in launching prestigious GSLV, PSLV, INSAT-3 and other Indian satellites. Government of India awarded him Padmasree in 1998.

 

MADHAVAN.T.K

Born on September 2, 1885 at Karthikappally. Father: Sri. Kesavan Channar. Mother: Smt. Ummini Amma. T.K.Madhavan was a distinguished personality dedicated for social work. He relentlessly worked for the uplift of oppressed communities. As an an outstanding organizer and great orator he attracted many followers. He was the founder of Temple Entry Movement, which fought for the entry of oppressed and low-caste communities to the temples of Kerala. In 1918 he was elected to the Sree Moolam Praja Sabha, a legislative council of Travancore. He presented a resolution seeking permission of temple entry and right to worship to all people irrespective of caste and community. In 1924, the famous Vaikom Sathyagraha was started under his leadership of Madhavan an he was arrested and imprisoned. Finally, the Maharaja of Travancore agreed to open the road to all class of people and the Vaikom Sathyagraha concluded sucessfully. However, he had to continue his struggle for the temple entry. He passed away on April 27, 1930.

K.Madhavan Nair is the Financial Controller for the famous Abu Dhabi Mall in Abu Dhabi. He was born in a village,Karuvatta near Haripad in Central Kerala. His education was at NSS HS, Karuvatta., S.D College Alappuzha. He went to Mumbai and took his Graduation and Post graduation from Chetana's Hazairmal College of Commerce, Bandra , Bombay University, He was one of the first official who worked for the progress and prosperity of the Rotana Hotels, as its First Financial Controller. He is an ardent believer of God and contributes liberally to many temples of Kerala and used to visit the temples/charity institutions in and around his native place on his holidays every year. He took initiative to construct the Family Temple, Sree Bhadra Devi at Karuvatta. He is popularly known as "Madhavettan" among his friends and well wishers. His life is fully dedicated to the uplift of downtroden and poor Keralites. He is the main source behind the famous "NAIR" Facebook group, which has a membership of more than 37,000. He is active with Science India Forum, NSS Abu Dhabi, and participate with the activities of many other socio cultural organizations.

 



MALABAR K.DAMODARAN (Keezedath Damodara Menon)

Born in 1912. Malabar K.Damodaran was an orator, historian, and an eminent Marxist philosopher. During the period of Stalin he raised the slogan of nationalization following Marshal Tito. Communists interpreted this as counter-revolution. But in the East European countries national communism spread during that period. Damodaran was well aware of this development and wrote about the same. Due to this vision, the communists kept a distance from him. Pattabakki, a drama written by him is famous and very popular. His other important works are Indiyuude Atmavu, Bharatheeya Thathwa Chinthakal etc. He passed away on 1 July 1976.


MALI

Born on 6 December 1915. Father: T.K.Velu Pillai (Sadasya Thilakan). Mother: Panapillai Bhagavathi Pillai. V.Madhavan Nair who is popularly known as Mali was a lawyer, journalist, musicologist, kathakali playwright, dramatist, editor and a pioneer in the radio broadcasting. But he is more known as a storyteller that attracted both children and adults. His style of story telling is so simple. He wrote thousands of stories from the epics, history, folklores for children of present and future. Mali Ramayanam, Mali Bharatham, Mali Bhagavatham, Puranakathamalika, Bala Sammanam, Padinjaran Balakathal, Bala Katha Malika, Janthusthan, Circus, Unnikale, Katha Parayam, Porattam are some of his wonderful works. The most popular attakkatha (kathakali play) Karnasapatham was authored by Mali. Mali's Kerala Sangeetham is a reference book for students of carnatic music. Mali was a tennis champion and a high jump record holder also. He was serving in the All India Radio for many years and retired as the Station Director. Mali passed away in 1996

MALLOOR GOVINDA PILLAI

Born in 1878. Father: Neelakantan Pillai. Mother: Malloor Kochu Parvathy Amma. Malloor Govinda Pillai was an eminent advocate who specialized in criminal cases Due to his extra ordinary abilities he won recognition and fame. He was elected as a Member of Sreemoolam Praja Sabha. He was also a noble social worker who made substantial contribution to the nair community. He passed away 1969.

  MAMMEN MAPPILA.K.C.

Born on May 4, 1873. Mammen Mappila was a great editor of a great daily, a philosopher and above all an eminent organiser. He took charge of the Chief Editor of Malayala Manorama in 1904 consequent on the death of his father Kandathil Varghese Mappila. He passed away in January 1954.

MANMADHAN.M.P.

Born in 1915. Father: Kalleli Veettil Narayana Pillai. Mother: Mangalathu Veedu Saradamma. Sri.Manmadhan was a social worker who toiled hard for the welfare of the society. He was an excellent orator, respected teacher and a talented artist. He was an embodiment of all virtues. He was the Professor and Principal of NSS Colleges. He also served as the Registrar and General Secretary of NSS. He participated in Bhoodan Movement led by Acharya Vinobabhave. He was also the leader of Anti-liquor movement in Kerala. He passed away on August 14, 1994

MANNATH PADMANABHAN

Sri.Mannathu Padmanabhan born on 2nd January 1878 at Mannathu Bhavanam, Perunna, Changanassery. His father was Sri. Iswaran Namboodiri of Neelavana Illam and mother Smt.Parvathy Amma. Due to poor financial condition, he was forced to discontinue his studies in the Second Form. He earned some money by writing documents and continued further studies at the age of fifteen. Later he passed teachers training course and became a teacher. He has also passed the Magistrate Examination. He served in many schools as teacher and Head Master. While he was working as a teacher in Changanassery Middle School, he was forced to resign the job due to unnecessary interference of the Head Master. He then enrolled himself as a advocate and started practice in Changanassery courts. In 1901 he got married to Smt.Kallyani Amma who died in 1912. Next year Mannam married Smt.Kuttiamma. She also succumbed to the small pox disease after six years. After long 18 years Mannam again married to the famous writer Smt.Thokkattakad Madhavi Amma in 1931. Mannam was a great organizer who could bring the nair community under the Nair Service Society. His abilities, cultural heritage, organizing expertise and artistic talents were dedicated to the welfare of the country as well as the community. Mannam was the life, soul, spirit and the moving force behind the Nair Service Society. The secret behind the wonder and success of NSS was the self less service and relentless efforts of Mannam. Mannam passed away on 25th Januvary 1970 at the age of 93.

MAR GREGORIUS

Born on February 1, 1916 at Thiruvalla. Father: Idikkula. Mother:Annamma. His Grace Mar Gregorius was a great priest who dedicated his life not only for the Christian community but also for the whole mankind. His baptism name was T.E.Varghese. He accepted priesthood in 1948 August. Thereafter he was known as Father Benedict. He was the successor of His Grace Mar Ivanios. He was the Principal of the Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram. In 1955 Father Benedict was ordained as a Bishop. The Episcopal title given to Fr. Benedict was Benedict Mar Gregorius. His Grace Mar Gregorius was the Chairman of Catholic Bishop Council, Kerala Chapter. Later he was elected as the President of Catholic Bishops Council of India. He was a member of World Catholic Council also. As an ardent advocate of communal harmony, he marked his indelible imprint in the history of Kerala. He was very much keen in taking up charity items of work. He passed away on October 10, 1994.

MAR IVANIOS GEEVARGHESE

Born on September 8, 1882. Father: Thomas Panicker. Mother: Annamma. His Grace Mar Ivanios was an intellectual and a humble priest having farsighted vision. In the year 1898 he accepted priesthood and became a Professor at Serampore, Calcutta. Later he became the the Principal of the College. In 1919, he resigned the job at Serampore College and returned to Kerala where he founded Bethani Ashrama at Pathanamthitta. Subsequently, Fr. Geevarghese started Balikamadom girl's school at Thirumoolapuram. On May 1, 1925 Fr. Geevarghese was ordained as a Bishop. The Episcopal title given to Fr. Geevarghese was Geevarghese Mar Ivanios. In 1939, he established St.Mary's School at Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram. In the year 1948 he established Mar Ivanios College and Mar Theophelus Training College at Thiruvananthapuram. He passed away on July 15, 1953.

MELPATHUR NARAYANA BHATTATHIRI

It is believed that Melpathur Narayana Bhattathiri was born in 735 ME at Kururambathwarn near Thirunavaya in Malappuram District. Melpathur studied Sanskrit, Veadas and other sciences from his father and became a scholar by the age of 16. Melputhoor Narayana Bhattathirippad wrote the Narayaneeyam, a devotional Sanskrit poetical hymn consisting of 1034 verses. It is believed that Melpathur affected rheumatic disease and proceeded to the Guruvayoor Temple in the year 761 ME to worship Lord Guruvayurappan. Upon reaching Guruvayur, he started composing one dashaka (10 verses) of Narayaneeyam in the presence of the Lord. He had completed the work in 100 days and submitted to the deity to get his chronic disease cured. It is believed that he was cured when he finished the last dashakam. His other works are Prakriya Sarvaswam, Apaneeyapramanyasadhanam, Dathukavyam, Manameyodayam, Thanthravarthikanubandham, Sreepada Sapthadi, Guruvayurpuresa Sthrothram, Panchalee Swayamvaram, Parvathi Swayamvarm etc. It is believed that he died at his age of 106 years. Some historians say that he died at his age of 86 years.

MENON.K.P.S.

Born on 18 October 1898. Father: Kumara Menon. Mother: Janamma. K.P.S. Menon was an eminent administrator and diplomat. He was a Padmabhushan laureate. He secured first rank and selected to Indian Civil Service and started career as Assistant Collector. He was Secretary to Government, External Affairs, Indian Ambassador to China and Soviet Union. He was also a member in UN Commission to Korea. He authored "Delhi-Chunking" and "Russian Panorama", two great works related to diplomacy. 'Playing Tokyo' and 'Many Worlds' are his other important works. Moscow University awarded him D.Lit. He passed away on 21 November 1982.
MENON.M.G.K. (Mambillikalathil Govinda Kumara Menon)

Born in1928. Father: Sankara Menon. Mother:Mambillykalathil Narayanikutty Amma. M.G.K.Menon is an outstanding scientist in the field of Atomic Energy. He conducted deep-rooted studies in physics especially in cosmic rays, which won international fame to him. He was the Director of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. He also served as the Director General of Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Secretary of Science & Technology Board of the Government of India, Chairman of ISRO and Advisor to Electronic Commission. He is the President of National Science Academy. Government awarded him Padmabhushan.

MENON.V.P.

Ottappalam is a small town in Kerala that captured national attention as the birthplace of V.P. Menon. A person not even passed the eighth standard steered the integration of native countries to the Republic of India – that is the incredible story of V.P.Menon, who became an eminent administrator and diplomat. He was the right hand of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, who was the Home Minister of India, immediately after independence.


MOHAN KUMAR G..

Mother Smt.Saradamma
G. Mohan Kumar is a distinguished IAS Officer who has dedicated 38 years of his life to serving the country in various capacities, ranging from District Magistrate to the Defence Production Secretary of India. As an exceptional civil servant who rose from the ranks, he is renowned for his innovative initiatives and outstanding performance.
Mohan Kumar received his secondary education at the Government Model High School in Thiruvananthapuram. While pursuing a postgraduate degree in Chemistry at the University College, Thiruvananthapuram, he was selected for the IPS, although he ultimately decided not to join the service. In 1979, he was selected to IAS and joined the Odisha IAS cadre. He holds a postgraduate (M.Sc) degree in Chemistry as well as an MBA degree.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mohan Kumar has held various pivotal positions within both the Union Government and the Government of Odisha. He has served as the District Magistrate and Collector for the Odisha government, Director of the Odisha State Seeds Corporation (OSSC), Chief Executive of the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Authority, Secretary to the Governor of Odisha, Managing Director of the Odisha Small Industries Corporation, Chairman and Managing Director of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC), Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Principal Secretary to the Government etc.
Subsequently, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Marine Products Export Development Authority in the Government of India. He has also served as the Special Secretary to the Government of India under the Ministry of Water Resources and as the Union Steel Secretary. In May 2015, he assumed the charge of Union Defence Secretary, and in July 2018, he was additionally assigned the responsibility of Union Defence Production Secretary.
Currently, Mohan Kumar serves as the Dean of Academic Progression at Amrita Viswa Vidyapeeth, further contributing to the field of education and development.

MOHANLAL

Born 21 May 1959 at Pathanamthitta, Father: Viswanathan Nair, Mother: Santhakumari.

Mohanlal is one of the most versatile actors and has been lauded for his natural acting style and one of the finest actors in the country who can slip into any role easily. He is also a producer, playback singer, and distributor. He has had a prolific career spanning over four decades, during which he has acted in more than 340 films not only in Malayalam but in other regional Indian films also
Mohanlal made his acting debut as a teenager in the Malayalam film Thiranottam in 1978, but the film was not released for 25 years due to censorship issues. His screen debut was in the 1980 romance film Manjil Virinja Pookkal, in which he played the role of a villain. Subsequently, he played antagonistic characters in several films and gradually rose to supporting roles. Towards mid-1980s, he elevated as a leading actor and gained stardom after starring in a series of commercially successful films
Mohanlal has won five National Film Awards, nine Kerala State Film Awards and Filmfare Awards South and numerous other accolades. He won ‘Bharath’ award twice. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2001 and Padma Bhushan in 2019. He became the first actor to be awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army. Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit and the University of Calicut awarded honorary doctorate to him.
Mohanlal has been a goodwill ambassador for the government and other nonprofit organisations, mainly for public service ads and humanitarian causes. In 2007, he was made the goodwill ambassador of the AIDS awareness campaign by Kerala AIDS Control Society. In 2009, Mohanlal was appointed as the goodwill ambassador of Kerala State Athletics by the Kerala State Athletics Association. In 2010, Mohanlal accepted the plea of the Department of Industries and Commerce of the Government of Kerala to be designated as the goodwill ambassador of Kerala's handloom industries. In 2015, the Government of Kerala made him the Goodwill ambassador of "Subhayatra 2015", a project developed to create awareness on road safety. In 2016, he was again appointed as the Goodwill ambassador of "Mrithasanjeevani", another project by the Government of Kerala aimed at promoting organ.
Mohanlal has started and associated with several business ventures related to film production and distribution, restaurants and packaged spices among others. He owns Maxlab Cinemas and Entertainments, a film distribution company. He started Vismayas Max, a film pre and post-production studio headquartered in Trivandrum and a college for dubbing artists at KINFRA Film and Video Park, Trivandrum, which was later taken over by Sohan Roy of Aries Group, and renamed as Aries Vismayas Max. He has produced films under the production house Pranavam Arts International.


  MOOLOOR PADMANABHA PANICKER

Born on Kumbhom 27, 1044 (ME) (1869 AD) at Chengannur. Father: Mooloor Sankaran Vaidyar. Mother: Velutha Kunhamma. Mooloor Padamanabha Panicker is known as Sarasakavi (humour poet). He studied Sanskrit, Ayurveda system of medicine etc from his father himself. Mooloorl started writing poems right from his childhood. He dedicated his life not only for the literary work but also for his community and the state as a whole. He was a member in the Sree Moolam Praja Sabha from 1914 onwards. Nalacharitham, Krishnarjuna Vijayam, Kiratham (Ammanappattukal), Asannamarana Chintha Sathakom (a poem that won Bhashaposhini award) Krishanrjuna Vijayam, Kuchelavrutham (Katha Kali literature), Kokila Sandesam, Avasarokthimala, Theendal Gadha, Moonnu Tharattukal, Kavithaniroopanam, Balabodhanam, Neethisara Samuchyam, Pooppadappattu, Kalahamsam (poems) Sanmarga Chandrika, Dharmapadam (translations), Subhadraharanam (drama) are his major works. He passed away on Meenam 9, 1106 (ME) (1931 AD).

MRB (Mullamangalathu Raman Bhattathiripad)

Born in 1908.Mullamangalathu Raman Bhattathiripad is known as MRB. He joined the Yogakshema Sabha, an organisation that pioneered social reforms movement, along with V T Bhattathiripad and others. MRB was courageous enough to marry a young widow, at a time when Namboothiri community imposed social prohibition of widow marriage. But there were few to emulate him. He was a writer of attractive literary essays. Marakkudakkullile Mahaanarakam, Ente Omana, Mazhavillu, Vaalkkannaadi are his major works. He passed away in 2001.

MRNALINI SARABHAI

Born in 1920. Mother: Ammu Swaminathan. Father: Dr.Swaminathan. Mrnalini Sarabhai was a world famous dancer and internationally famous artist. She studied basic lessons of dance from Vishwabharathi. She completed here course in Bharathanatyam classical dance from Kalakshethram of Adayar and Kath Kali dance from Kerala Kala Mandalam. She was the first women dancer who won "Veera Shringala". She was the wife of Late Dr.Vikram Sarabhai, the famous space scientist.

MUHAMMED KOYA.C.H

Born on July 15 1927 at Quilandy. Father: P.Ali Musliyar. Mother: Maiyum. C.H. Mohammed Koya was the Chief Minister of Kerala in 1979 and Deputy Chief Minister from 1981 to 1982. He was a brilliant administrator, talented organiser, renowned parliamentarian and a celebrated author. While studying in Kozhikode Samoothiri College, he was the leader and one of the founders of Malabar Muslim Students Federation. He served as General Secretary of Kerala State Muslim League and Indian Union Muslim League. In 1957 he was elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly from Thanoor. In 1961 he was the speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly. In 1962 he was elected as a Member of Parliament from Kozhikode constituency. He was the Minister for Education from 1967-1969, Minister for Education and Home from 1969-1971, Minister for Education from 1971-1973 and Minister for Finance in 1977. When P.K.Vasudevan Nair resigned from the office of Chief Minister of Kerala, C.H.Mohammed Koya became the Chief Minister for a short period from October 12, 1979 to November 30, 1979.

MUKUNDAN .M.

Born on September 10, 1942 at Mayyazhi (Mahe). M.mukundan is a pioneer of modern Malayalam novel movement. The style of his novels and sentiments that created on the readers make Mukundan distinctive from other novel laureates. His first literary work was a short story published in 1961. The Mayyazhi is the main character of almost all his novels and therefor, he is known as the Mayyazhiyude Kadhakaran (Story writer of Mayyazhi). The French government conferred on him the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 1998 in recognition to his outstanding literary contributions. He won Kendra Sahithya Academy award, NV Prize, Vayalar Award, and the Kerala Sahitya Academy award. Mayyazhippuzhayude Theerangalil, Daivathinte Vikrithikal, Appam Chudunna Kunkiyamma, Lesli Achante Kadangal, Adithyanum Radhayum Mattu Chilarum, Oru Dalit Yuvathiyude Kadanakatha, Kesavante Vilapangal, Pravasam are his main works.

V.MURALEEDHARAN

Born on 12 December 1958 at Eranholi, Thalassery, Father:Vannathanveetil Gopalan, Mother:Nampally Vellamvelly Devaki
V.Muraleedharan (Vellamvelly Muraleedharan) is a distinguished leader within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In April 2018, he was elected as a Member of Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, from Maharashtra and currently serving the nation as the Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs. Additionally, he holds the esteemed position of Government Deputy Chief Whip in the Rajya Sabha. Muraleedharan earned his degree in English Literature from Government Brennen College, Thalasseri. He has been actively participated in the activities of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) since his school days. His political journey began during the turbulent period of the emergency that was declared in 1975. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, becoming the Kannur District Secretary in 1979 and the State Joint Secretary of ABVP in 1980. His dedication also extended to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). In 1983, at the young age of 25, Muraleedharan was elected as the State Organizing Secretary of ABVP, a position he held for 11 years. During this time, he worked closely with prominent leaders such as Shri Govindacharya and Shri Dattatraya Hosabale. His commitment to youth empowerment led to his appointment as the All India General Secretary of ABVP in 1994, where he relocated to Mumbai to fulfill his duties effectively. Muraleedharan's contributions to the nation continued as he was appointed Vice Chairman of Nehru Yuva Kendra in 1999, under the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. He also played a pivotal role as Chief Coordinator for the golden jubilee celebrations of the Indian Republic in 2000. From 2002 to 2004, he served as the Director General of Nehru Yuva Kendra and convener of the Youth Employment Generation Task Force under the Khadi and Village Industries Commission. As the office bearer of Nehru Yuva Kendra, he garnered national attention for establishing the National Reconstruction Corps, later renamed Rashtriya Sadbhawana Yojana. He was the founding president and a board member of the National Yuva Cooperative Society, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among youth. In 2004, he represented India at the World Youth Peace Summit Asia-Pacific conference in Bangkok. He has presented over 25 papers on national educational policy, higher education systems, employment creation, environmental issues, and developmental challenges at various national and international seminars. From 2006 to 2010, he served as the Kerala State Vice-President of the BJP. In January 2010, he was elected as the State President of the BJP, becoming the eighth State President in Kerala. Under his leadership, the BJP has significantly strengthened its presence at the grassroots level in the state. Wife: Dr. K.S. Jayasree.
