Hongzhou (Manchu:ᡥᡠᠩᠵᡝᠣ, Mölendroff: hungjeo; 5 January 1712 – 2 September 1770), formally known as Prince He, was a Manchu prince of the Qing dynasty.

Life[edit]

Hongzhou was born in the Manchu Aisin Gioro clan as the fifth son of the Yongzheng Emperor. His mother was Imperial Noble Consort Chunque (纯悫すめらぎ贵妃) of the Geng (耿) clan, who was the daughter of Geng Dejin (耿德きん), a guanling (內管りょう) in the Qing imperial court.

Hongzhou was granted the title "Prince He of the First Rank" (かずせき和親わしんおう) in 1733. In his childhood, he was adopted and raised by Empress Xiaojingxian. Unlike his brothers Hongli and Hongshi, Hongzhou chose to avoid being involved in rivalry over the succession to their father's throne. He was known to have pretended to be crazy and feminine.
