Project Assessment[edit]

A nice start, but not nearly long enough; could be more like Military History of Canada during WWI. And the introduction especially needs work. The current statement, while not necessarily inaccurate, is unprofessional and encyclopedic. LordAmeth 09:32, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted bit about Japan capturing German New Guinea, since the Australians not Japanese captured it! PS: the IJN escorted the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (NZEF) in 1914. Hugo999 12:16, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Search for Japaneses Veterans of World War One[edit]

There is an extensive article in Wikipedia about "Surviving Veterans of World War I". Inspite of Japan's significant participation (about 800,000 troops mobilized) and documented reputation for human longevity (at least 14 Japanese men have lived past their 110th birthdays since January 1st, 1999); there is not a single Japanese WWI veteran listed. I have tried looking on the Japan Center for Asian Historical Research page (jacar.go.jp) and contacting Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare but have had no luck in finding any. I called the Japanese consulate in New York and was informed that their government does not track military veterans; still there would seem to be anecdotal clues (shrines, cemetaries, etc.). Does anyone know how attain this information? Please respond; Thank You.JeepAssembler (talk) 22:10, 21 February 2009 (UTC)JeepAssemblerJeepAssembler (talk) 22:10, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
