Orlando theme parks ... read more about 'em
There's a new theme-park publication in the works, and you could be a writer for it, too. Well, provided you know how to write well. And, of course, that you love the theme parks here and attend them often.
Former newspaper editor and publisher Matt Roseboom and Disney blogger Ricky Brigante are teaming up to publish, "Orlando Attractions Magazine," an every-other month publication (in the beginning, anyway) devoted to themed attractions here in the theme-park capital of the world.
I could go off on a why-in-the-HalloweenHorrorNights-didn't-anybody-think-of-this-before tangent. But, given my contractual obligations to a certain old-media publication at 633 N. Orange, I'll just whistle, scratch my head and offer up a Goofy-worthy "gwash!" instead.

Tidbits: Roller coasters, Hard Rock Live, Margaritaville
Three quick hits from recent theme-park experiences:
First, Revenge of the Mummy at Universal. Rode it recently after a long hiatus. What was nice: Walked right on, despite it being summer. What struck me: It did not seem as thrilling as I remembered. Then I thought why: I think Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom has surpassed it. The use of backward motion at that ride just seems more effective to me. [We have roller coasters on the brain here lately; read fellow ranger Dewayne's take on all our Central Florida coasters here.]

Erasure at Hard Rock Live
Spent Sunday night reliving the '80s with Erasure at Hard Rock Live. And for a Sunday night, Universal's CityWalk was pretty lively. Live outdoor music helped, and of course a Hard Rock concert generates traffic. But considering the heat and humidity, I was impressed with the dedication of our tourists and locals.
