Team of the week

Sporting teams across the Territory have the opportunity to win a share of $20 000 as part of a new weekly segment on Channel Nine.

Team of the Week, an initiative of the Territory Government and Channel Nine, will run for 20 weeks from 14 April and is opportunity to recognise the great sporting teams of the Territory.

Five teams will be featured each week and the public will vote on who progresses to the semi-finals.

Anyone can nominate - it can be a senior or junior sporting team, serious or social, from absolute starters to the league table champions.

Alice Springs Under 7's Living Waters Dynamite Team

The Living Waters U7s Dynamite team from Alice Springs live up to their name and are certainly explosive on the field. Under an expert coach, they are going very well in the Centralian competition and brag a great deal of talent to be quite a formidable team.

NT Stingers

The NT Stingers got off to a great start in the Australian Hockey championship. Travis Carroll and co-captain AJ Lockley scored in the sides 2-1 win over South Australia. They also put up a brave fight in narrow losses to powerhouse states, Queensland and Western Australia.

Eagles Basketballers 

The girls U12's Eagles Basketballers went down in the semi final to the St Mary's Raptors, but were very valiant in defeat. They've been playing together for a few years now and always show up with a smile on their face and do the best that they can each week.

Chung Wah Society –  Lion Dance Troupe

The Chung Wah Society –  Lion Dance Troupe is made up of dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to learn and preserve the traditional Chinese art of Lion Dance. The Chinese lion is believed to ward away evil spirits and brings good luck and happiness.

The troupe’s age ranges from 8 years and up and recently represented the Northern Territory at the Bendigo Easter Festival in Victoria, where they performed and showcased their skills alongside other lion dance teams from around Australia.

The team recently participated in the Dragons Abreast Dragon Boat Regatta and won the Open Division.
