Sonos redesigns Android and iOS apps bringing universal search

Sonos has announced an updated version of its Android and iOS apps, offering new features to its wireless music system.

Android users will be able to try out the new update now via a beta programme, but the app isn't expected to launch officially until the end of April for iOS and Android users.

When it does arrive however, the new update will bring a new look and stronger focus on accessing streaming services, as well as putting in place the foundations for more features in the future.

The Android and iOS apps have been completely redesigned in terms of design and technology to offer a more simplified interface.

They now come witha universal search option that will let you search for an artist or a track across your music searches, rather than you having to search one by one.

Additionally, the app will break your music control into three modules, comprising music that is playing, where it is playing and finding the next song.

You will also be able to see your favourites in one place and access music services quickly as oppose to having to search for them.

The company is keeping quiet about PC and Mac versions of the software, but in terms of Windows Phone, the answer from Sonos was that it has been considered but there are no further plans at the moment.
