D. H. Hill Jr. Library

Located on NC State's North Campus, the D. H. Hill Jr. Library is one of NC State’s two main libraries, complementing the James B. Hunt Jr. Library on Centennial Campus.

What's inside the Hill Library?

Opened in 1953, the Hill Library has been pieced together and updated over the decades, with the North and South Tower additions in 1971 and 1990, respectively, and major renovations in 2007 and 2020. It now serves as North Campus’ hub for learning, teaching, research, collaboration, and experimentation.

Throughout the Hill Library, users will find spaces for making, data and visualization, digital media creation, augmented and virtual reality, and gaming, as well as spaces for exhibiting student and faculty work and Libraries collections. We also have dozens of reservable study rooms and dedicated Faculty and Graduate Student Commons.

And of course, we have books—over a million, in fact. Find a cozy nook in the stacks, maybe one on the ninth floor with a fantastic view of Raleigh, and get to work on a paper or project. Or just enjoy a good read from the Popular Reading Lounge in the Learning Commons on the first floor.
