Concertos

Concertos are compositions for one (sometimes several) solo player and symphony orchestra. The piano concertos Beethoven wrote were not for a particular customer but for himself. As long as his hearing would allow so, Beethoven took charge of the piano part during performances. He also composed concertos and romances for violin and orchestra. His oboe concerto, however, is lost.
