A kid works on the tobacco farm

This collecting area will document the current and historical landscape of Environmental Justice in North Carolina and the southeastern region of the United States. This effort will complement the SCRC’s existing collecting strengths while providing new perspectives on the relationships between animals, wildlife, and industrialized agriculture, as well as emerging movements around agricultural sustainability and climate adaptation. This new collecting area also supports the SCRC’s commitment to antiracist archival practices by developing collections that will represent the intersectional impacts of environmental justice and racial justice movements.
