黄色 い森 の中 で、道 が二 つに分 かれていた残念 ながら、両方 の道 を進 むことはできない- ひとりで
旅 する私 はしばらく立 ちどまり、 片方 の道 をできるだけ奥 まで見 ると、- その
道 は、先 で折 れて草 むらの中 に消 えていた
次 に、もう一方 の道 に目 をやった- こちらも
劣 らず美 しいし、 - むしろ
良 さそうに見 えたのは、 草 が生 い茂 っていて踏 み荒 らされていなかったからだ。- もっとも、それを
言 うなら、その道 を通 る事 によって 実際 にはどちらもほとんど同 じように踏 み均 されてしまうのだが。
- あの
日 、どちらの道 も同 じように、 - まだ
踏 まれずに黒 ずんでいない落 ち葉 に埋 もれていた。 - あぁ、
私 は最初 の道 を、別 の日 のために取 っておくことにした! - しかし、
道 が先 へ先 へと続 いていることは分 かっていたから、 - この
場所 に戻 ってくるかどうかは、疑 わしかった。
- この
先 、私 はため息 まじりに語 り続 けるつもりだ。 今 から何 年 、何 十 年 先 になっても言 い続 けるつもりだ。- ずっと
昔 、森 の中 で道 が二 手 に分 かれており、私 は――― 私 は、踏 みならされていない道 を選 んだ。- そしてそれが、
決定的 な違 いを生 んだ。
