How to Place a Bid?
At the session start, please LOGIN so that our system can recognize you and adjust the navigation menus precisely according to your access rights.
To LOG IN and LOG OUT, use the Account Icon located at the top right of each artelino page. Once successfully logged in, select the auction catalog, choose your favorite item, and click on the PLACE BID button. The rest is a charm.
How Can I Pay?
artelino accepts American Express, Mastercard, VISA for residents outside Europe, and PayPal. For residents in Europe, we accept PayPal and Bank Transfer as payment methods.
Anything I Must Do at Auction End?
Once the auction ends, you have two options: either proceed directly to Checkout, or anticipate our notifications. We send these notifications to both the highest bidders and those who didn't win, approximately 10 minutes after the auction concludes.
Kindly review the information provided in the Checkout section or within our email notification and carefully follow the instructions outlined. Winners opting for payment through PayPal or Bank Transfer will receive an additional payment request. This request will contain a convenient "PAY NOW" PayPal button or our bank account details. Immediate payment is expected.
For those who have chosen payment by credit card, we initiate the charging process approximately 12 hours after the auction ends. You need not take any further action; simply await our charging and shipping confirmations.
How Much Do You Charge?
We charge the hammered price of your winning item(s) along with a buyer's commission of 20% based on the final hammered price. If immediate shipping is chosen, the shipping fee will also be included.
Buyers from EU member states and Northern Ireland are subject to VAT sales tax. For specific details, please refer to our tax information. However, purchases shipped to non-EU member states such as the U.S.A., England, or Switzerland are not subject to VAT.
Reduced "Early Bird" Commission
Enjoy a reduced buyer's commission rate of 15% if you place a minimum of 3 bids on items not yet taken during the initial 36 hours. This reduced commission rate will be applied to all your successful bids at the conclusion of the auction. You can identify the validity of the early bird period by a notice displayed at the top of the catalog pages.
What is Consolidated Shipping?
Upon your request, we can hold your purchases from multiple auctions for up to 3 months. When you instruct us, we will ship these accumulated items together as a single consolidated shipment, treating them as one order for shipping purposes.
May I Return an Item?
You have the option to return an item without specifying a reason. However, we have a preference for minimal returns. As we primarily sell consignments from collectors, dealers, and artists rather than maintaining an inventory of our own, returns incur substantial costs for us.
Our policy typically ends the business relationship after the second return, or sooner, except in cases where our descriptions contain significant errors.
What is the Maximum Bid?
The Bidding Page automatically displays the lowest valid bid. However, you have the option to choose a higher bid than what is currently required. This higher bid acts as a protective measure against outbidding, especially during last-minute counter-bidding scenarios. This is commonly referred to as a maximum bid, proxy bid, or absentee bid.
With this feature, the system will bid on your behalf, but only when necessary. It will place bids using the minimum increment required and will never exceed the maximum bid amount that you have specified.
Can I Retract a Bid?
Retracting a bid is strictly prohibited. We strongly advise against requesting bid cancellations. Typically, any such request results in an immediate termination of the business relationship with you. If you have uncertainties about an item, we recommend refraining from placing a bid altogether.
Bidding Limitations
Our system imposes a maximum successful bid limit of $3,000 for first-time bidders. Additionally, bidders with a limited purchase history, not yet well-known to us, face a further bidding limit of $5,000. These limits are determined by a complex algorithm considering factors such as your purchase history, account age, payment behavior, and other relevant criteria.
Zero Tolerance Policy
We kindly request your adherence to our terms and conditions, payment policy, and return policy. In our commitment to maintaining smooth and fair auctions, more than 200 bidders have been permanently banned from our auctions since 2001. Please note that there is no option for return in such cases.

Our auctions typically span one week, starting and ending on Sunday at 8:00 PM CET (Central European Time). Closed auctions remain displayed for an additional week.
To view the current auction, navigate to CURRENT AUCTION. Clicking on an image takes you to a page with larger images and detailed descriptions. We recommend reviewing this information thoroughly before placing your bid.
Visit BIDDING WATCH to view the most recent 12 bids in the auction. This page automatically refreshes every minute.
Explore ARTISTS in AUCTION for a catalog showcasing all artists represented in the auction. Click on an artist's image to access the catalog displaying their item(s).
The AUCTION CALENDAR serves as an announcement calendar for upcoming auctions.
Access MY BIDS to view the bids you've placed. High bidder items are marked with a green background, while items where you're not the current high bidder have a light red background. Please note, this page requires login and is visible only to you.
