美國 國家 科學 院 醫學 機構 的 指 引是首 個 統一 了 生前 酒精 暴露 的 診斷 的 系統 。[11]西 雅 圖 華 盛 頓 大學 的 「四 位 診斷 代 碼」將 胎兒 酒精 譜 系 障礙 的 4個 主要 特徵 按李 克 特 量 表 排列 ,得 出 256個 代 碼並分 成 22個 不同 的 臨床 類別 (從 正常 至 胎兒 酒精 綜合 症 )。[26]美國 疾病 控 制 與 預 防 中心 的 指 引,記錄 了 在 美國 診斷 的 胎兒 酒精 綜合 症 的 一般 共 識,但 延 遲 提供 胎兒 酒精 譜 系 障礙 的 情況 。[27]加 拿大的 診斷 指 引,列 出 了 在 加 拿大診斷 胎兒 酒精 譜 系 障礙 的 標準 ,并协调了醫學 機構 及西雅 圖 華 盛 頓 大學 的 系統 。[2]

高風 險 ——已 確認 的 酒精 暴露 ,在 早期 懷 孕期間 達 至 每 星 期 最少 100mg/dL的 血液 酒精 濃度 。一 些風險 ——已 確認 的 酒精 暴露 ,但 份量少 於高風 險 或 不明 確 的 攝取 模 式 。未知 風 險 ——不明 的 酒精 攝取 量 。沒 有風 險 ——確認 沒 有 孕期酒精 暴露 ,可 以排除 胎兒 酒精 綜合 症 的 可能 性 。
