L'empereur Suizei (綏靖
Il n'y a pas de date certaine qui puisse être attribuée à cet empereur et il est considéré par les historiens comme un « empereur légendaire ». Il est le premier de huit empereurs sans légende, le Kojiki et le Nihon shoki ne précisant que son nom et sa généalogie. La tradition lui attribue des dates de vie de -670 à -549 et situe son règne à partir de -581, à la suite de celui de son père Jinmu. Peu après son accession au pouvoir, son frère se rebelle contre lui.
Si la tradition affirme qu'il a réellement existé et lui attribue une tombe, ainsi que le palais de Takawoka à Kadzuraki comme siège de son règne, les études historiques modernes tendent à montrer qu'il n'a en fait jamais existé.
