- The Han people used the characters '
容 ' and '易 ' to refer to the character '易 '. '容易 ' is not a compound word. Since Du Fu's poetry and the casual mention by Yang Jing in his commentary on Xunzi, stating 'suddenly' or 'speaking of ease', later generations have continuously passed this down. Those who speak of '易 ' invariably also mention '容 '.
漢 人 以何 容 二 字 引易 字 ,容易 非 連 綴 文 ,自 杜 詩 與 奮偶,又 楊倞注 荀子云 ,忽 然 、言 容易 也,後人 遂 轉 相 傳 飛 ,言 易 者 、矢口 必兼 言 容 。 [MSC, trad.]
