Profile
I’m a second term Dunedin City Councillor having previously spent four terms serving on the West Harbour Community Board.
I’ve lived in the beautiful suburb of Koputai (Port Chalmers) for over 20 years with my wife, Dr Liana Machado, who carries out brain research at the University of Otago.
I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Third World Development Studies, I’m a Justice of the Peace (JP), a Resource Management Commissioner, the recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow Award (issued by Rotary Club of Dunedin) and I sit on the Dunedin Wildlife Hospital Trust Board.
I’m a longtime member of Orokonui Ecosanctuary and I love cycling, tramping and travelling (104 countries to date!)
My priorities as a councillor are:

- MODE-SHIFT - public transport, walking & cycling
- Vibrant PEOPLE-FOCUSED city centres
- Waste reduction - CIRCULAR ECONOMY
