About this track
The Pineapple Track climbs the south eastern slopes of Flagstaff to Pineapple Junction. Starting at the small parking space at the junction of Fulton Road and Booth Road. Follow the gravelled track up through mixed native bush, exotic firs and pines until you reach Booth Road. Take a left at Booth Road, which leads to a water-treatment station before re-entering the bush behind the buildings. The Pineapple track continues up through native bush comprised of Broadleaf, Fuchsia, Manuka, Wineberry and Coprosmas with native mistletoes sporadically lurking in native divaricate shrubs and Broadleaf. The track emerges onto grassland and scrub to climb steeply up to Pineapple Junction. As you climb up the grassy section of the Pineapple Track be sure to look behind you from time to time for beautiful views of central Dunedin. Turn left here and continue uphill for 1.5 km to the top of Flagstaff.
Getting there:
The Pineapple track can be accessed by Wakari Road or Fulton Road with a small carpark at the Booth Road intersection/ corner.
Know before you go
The Pineapple Track is quite steep in places and weather conditions at the top of the junction may be very different to the conditions at the bottom. Make sure you take a warm layer of clothes with you and some water.
