Keep Dunedin Beautiful

Keep Dunedin Beautiful began as part of the Anti-Litter Council which the New Zealand Government established in 1967. The organisation is now known as Keep New Zealand Beautiful, and Keep Dunedin Beautiful is proud to be one of 31 branches across the country.

Keep Dunedin Beautiful works in partnership with the Dunedin City Council to encourage pride in, and enhance Dunedin’s built and natural environments. We work to educate the community about waste minimisation and recycling initiatives, sustainability best practice, and coordinate environmental projects that include clean-up events, tree plantings, and beautification programmes such as graffiti removal and community murals.

  • Graffiti

The DCC is committed to taking an active role, along with our wider community, in addressing graffiti vandalism in the city. More information about reporting and the removal of graffiti can be found on our City Safety page.

To contact Keep Dunedin Beautiful phone (03) 477 4000 or email keepdunedinbeautiful@dcc.govt.nz

  • Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean up Week

Clean Up Week is back for 2023! It’s a great opportunity to get your school, business or local community group together to participate in New Zealand's largest clean up event from 16 – 22 September.

For more information and to register your interest visit knzb website.

  • Community Murals

Murals are a great way to beautify spaces, deter graffiti and build community pride. Keep Dunedin Beautiful can provide advice and support to community groups, schools and artists on mural projects in public spaces. Contact us to chat about your ideas.
